Hi,

Lately I have been trying to be an outside user on spreadUbuntu,
searching for cool stuff on the site. I have found A LOT of cool
material that is there. I have also experienced some shortcoming.

Based on this experience I would like to propose to the following changes:

1. We need to separate tje concept of a translated website from the
concept of translated material.
1.1 SpreadUbuntu being available in many languages is key and
important so as many users as possible can contribute.
1.2 Translating material is done today on a material-node level and we
should keep it this way
1.3 Material should not have a language by default, but rather have
language as a reference

2. Searching needs to be simplified and more powerful
2.1 Move away from the concept of Language for Material
2.2 Search criterias (Media, Purpose, Derivative, Release, Source
Extension) should be shown as clickable text fields. Dropdown menues
are cumbersome (the HUD got me thinking in that)
2.3 The Serach bar should, by default search a

Hi Vibhav,

I run an Ubuntu public access computer lab here in Boston. The tools and
skills needed to run a multi-user environment are quite different to the
skills needed for a simple desktop.

I think the first job is to find out as much as you can about the tools
which you can use in a cyber cafe which will give the owner some
advantages. Ways to control the computers remotely, ways to time the
session (I wrote a session manager for this kind of thing available in
my greeter ppa) and ways to identify users and bill them if required.

Secondly it's useful to demonstrate the many themes and looks the
computers can have. From the elegant Unity interface to the XP, Windows
7 and OSX themes which can make Ubuntu computers look like anything. We
actually use all four interfaces and teach them so users understand not
to be afraid of new interfaces.

Lasty you may need to get him to see the advantages of learning more
about Ubuntu himself directly. Get his personal computer dual booting
and get him into the whole

Hi Alessandro,

the original project you meant is this one:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarketingTeam/Projects/UbuntuSurveys

AFAIK this project is superseeded. Design Team do its research with end
user and AFAIK what they do it's not easily delegating to the community.
So, the Italian Team didn't started the project because is superseeded
in international community, not because we was waiting for it to be started.

Btw, thanks for reminding that blueprint that is not updated, I'll fix
it right now.

Been looking at the new features. I'm a bit disappointed that there is
little or no customisation for Unity in precise.
This is really necessary to attract existing Ubuntu users who don't like
Unity back into the fold. I'm sure I can suggest stuff that will be
attractive to new users (ex-Windows) ... BUT ....

Dear Ubuntu Marketing team,
Time to start thinking about ways to make the 12.04 LTS release
all nice and shiny from a messaging perspective. :)

For each of the milestone release (Alphas and Betas) during this
cycle, we'll be gathering input for an overview of the changes, and bugs
to watch out for in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/TechnicalOverview

For the alphas the audience is primarily developers, for the betas,
early adopters and testers becomes the target.

If you have suggestions for improvements to these overviews or changes
that should be considered, now is a good time to start some discussions
off.

Thanks,
Kate
on behalf of the Ubuntu Release team.

Contacts are important. They are worth developing and cultivating.
Start in whatever way you can, and be patient too, but do not give up.
Personal contact is most valuable.

A news publication or other media is a busy pressured environment and
(they) will appreciate occasionally an easy trusted news item.

If a miracle happens it is news. If it happens again and again it is
still a miracle but it is no longer 'news' and the media are then not
interested! Think media. Good luck.

Exactly what they mean by that, I don't know. Perhaps you've had a very
unstable connection that you joined, qut, join, quick, etc. Seems a
little harsh that it should stay for months. Perhaps it's an oversight.
In any case, I've mentioned it on the channel. If it doesn't get fixed
