<pre>This list has become very low traffic over the last year. The mobile
team has become the ARM team and keeping this list open makes no sense
any longer.

That said the archives could be of use to folks so they will remain for
the foreseeable future.

If you have any development needs, questions, etc, please join the
Ubuntu Developers list and post your questions there:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-devel

We will also be using the ubuntu-devel list when we need to post things
about Ubuntu ARM development so there will not be an Ubuntu-ARM list
made at this time.

Is there ubuntu for handheld computers like the below?:

Is this the right list to ask on? Is there some better list?

Thanks. :)

I just bought a new computer, Samsung Intercept (SI) handheld computer
with touch screen &amp; kbd, $200 new product offering (will go to $250 on
Nov 20?) at Radio Shack (RS).

I'm in the San Francisco, California, USA area.

It has Virgin Mobil (VM) cell phone access (Sprint owns the VM system in
USA).

I have 30 days to decide to keep or return it.

Runs Android.

Could be a superb value, with unlimited internet at $25/m from VM, which
includes 300 minutes talk time. Unlimited
talk over wifi through Google talk. IIRC, 1200min talk for $40.

Might be a great value for the budget minded, like students. If you're
interested, get to Radio Shack right away cause the discount intro
pricing ends soon.

=
Two main questions I'm currently looking for answers to:

1) How can I tether a laptop through wifi to the SI through VM to the
internet?
1b) Tethering</pre>

I've attached the output of lshal as requested. I'm on Kubuntu 10.10.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

<pre>Hi,
Please let me know if I have sent this to the wrong Ubuntu list.

Today I installed Maverick on a BeagleBoard xM-A2, following the instructions here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OMAPMaverickInstall

Since I am don't have a monitor with DVI-in, I adjusted the bootargs, as per:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/BeagleEditBootscr

This was done by following:

Strip the 72byte long uboot header:
dd if=boot.scr of=boot.script bs=1 skip=72

Open the file in an editor and edit the "setenv bootargs" line to add/remove bootoptions:
setenv bootargs vram=12M console=ttyS2,115200n8 serialtty=ttyS2 omapfb.mode=tv:pal root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 fixrtc

/usr/bin/mkimage -A arm -T script -C none -n "Ubuntu boot script" -d boot.script boot.scr#done as root on my fedora desktop

Then copied the newly created boot.scr file on my SD card replacing the existing one.

But when I tried to boot, with s-video connected to my pal-format tv, and with only the 5volt power and serial port connected. Both ways it freezes after minicom has displa</pre>

I am trying to get X resolution correct for my Asus EEE PC T91 (No
multitouch) without the binary blobs. I am using the netbook remix of
meerkat and I followed the instruction in this page.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsboAlternatives

Everything works as it is mentioned. However, grub seems to have problem
finding windows. (Did i mention i have dual boot). Now if i go back to
Ubuntu and undo everything that i did with grub configuration, and if i do

" *sudo update-grub* "

grub was able to find the windows correctly and windows works.

Can any of you please help me ?

Thanks

 2) Power-management does not recognise the battery
 3) Video playback was extremely slow

I have installed the Poulsbo driver as proposed in the wiki page

 1) Screen resolution = OK
 2) Still no battery recognision in the Power-Management tool
 3) Screen remains black whilst playing in Totem or VLC (these programs
appear to run normally though)

Can you please advise me what to do to get at least the video's to play.
(In Windows video's run normally, but Windows is just impossibly slow on
this machine. I want to get rid of it altogether)

By the way: I just downloaded and tried the Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook version on
this machine, and it looks that the battery recognition problem has been

Kind regards and many thanks for your advice.
