    <description>Hi,

I might advise to do other 7 attempts before you consider it done. I
have checked it with kernel 2.6.27.7, Quadro FX 570M and
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.06. I faced soft lockups after resume with 100%
probability using power down method 5. Switching to 4 I can do 6-8
succesful cycles before the lockup.

The problem comes when I switch back to X after resume. I run a 32 bit
system.

kexec support. I would start a separate branch for any serious work on
them anyway.

Okay. I need to update those 'official' current patches. That should
minimise the diffs again.

Now that the big local event I was working on is over, I may have some
more time for TuxOnIce.

Yes, it should be safe to use. No recent patches have any data

hibernate patch instead of using the inofficial one, although I am not
convinced that it makes much of a difference. Lets see.

The syncs I added to my pre-hibernate seemed to help. KDE configuration is
intact. As a safeguard I rsync ~/.kde to a backup directory before
hibernating anyway.

Lets see what ideas I have to continue that Sherlock Holmes game ;)

I am puzzled that it only happens on my ThinkPad T42, not on the T23 and
neither on the Dell workstation - till now.

Goodnight ;-),

Hi!

CC'd to linux-kernel mailinglist, as that might be something that goes
beyond any possible TuxOnIce or XFS issues. I know I am using TuxOnIce
which is not part of the mainline kernel. And I am even using an
inofficial patch - which I will use again unchanged for the non
MTRR_SANITIZER kernel, in order to know whether its the MTRR_SANITIZER
thing. And anyway before knowing whether it might be MTRR_SANITIZER
related I need to run the non MTRR_SANITIZER kernel for at least a week
and have quite some hibernate cycles. If someone else had issues with
MTRR_SANITIZER I would like to hear about it. Also if someone thinks I am
completely off track on trying to track this down I appreciate a hint.

That's good. The intermittent ones are the worst.

I hoped you had an idea of what commit between 14c94ea and 91d247a causes the regression.
So I should continue to bisect. Maybe you can enlighten me about the revisions I should test: if there are non-atomic commits, I could get other bugs that would false the results.

The attached file is my kernel config file.
I'll take of picture of a crash tomorrow.

I've already described my config several times on this ml:
- Turion X2 laptop
- Debian x86_64
- GeForce Go 7300 with nv driver
- loop-AES-2.6.27 3.2e
- /dev/sda1 on / type xfs (rw,noatime)
- /dev/loop0 on /home/jm type xfs (rw,noatime)
- /dev/loop0 (/dev/sda3) encryption=AES256 multi-key-v3
- /dev/loop1 (/dev/sda2) encryption=AES256 multi-key-v3
- swapwriter on /dev/loop1

I don't use my own script to suspend to disk. Here is a extract:
