<pre>My laptop has been away for repair. When it came back there was no
paperwork - I've no idea what was done to it, but there are a couple of
very strange things. Of course, the first thing I did when it came back
was update, so it's possible that something there is involved.

1) Not important, but strange - the panel clock was 1 hour wrong.
2) My defined shortcut to launch kpat, my chosen lunchtime relaxation,
no longer works. I deleted it and redefined it, but no joy.

The clock business is just a curiosity. Short of messing with the bios
setting I can't think why that would be. I'd really like to get the
shortcut working again. What could interfere with that?

probably this is the wrong place for this comment but since I am
overloaded with work it should be better here than nowhere. :-)

I am quite pleased with calligra import of docx documents, sometimes
my students send me docx documents with math formulas (or related) and I
have been able to read them with calligra suite but not with libreoffice.

Note that this is only for reading and not writing or editing or whatever.

I should also say that I have written tips to explain them that pdf is a
better format for file transfer FWIW.

<pre>Looking for an opinion.....

I've verified a bug on 2 fully updated F16 systems. It involves KDE, ibus, and
LibreOffice but I suspect it is a KDE problem since it works in GNOME.

The problem no longer exists in F17. So, the question, is it worthwhile to submit a
bugzilla against F16 when you know the issue doesn't exist in F17?

Amarok memory leak when changing tracks
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298627

Easily reproducible - just load up a playlist and
select the repeat playlist option.

The only plugins I am using are mass
storage device and lastfm.

I ran the following command to document the leak:
top -b -d 150 -p 11866 &gt; amarok.txt

I then imported the results into a google spreadsheet you can view here:
http://goo.gl/Q4bZw

Memory utilization started out at 7.4% and ended up at 31.9% after approx 48
hours. The leak is steady and unrelenting. I ran the same playlist under QMMP
during the same period and memory utilization was steady at 2.5% throughout the
period.

Actually, the one app he's asking about, KFileReplace, has been ported! What
is still unfinished is the port/rewrite of Quanta. We are shipping KDE 3
kdewebdev because Quanta is the main app in it and it uses the other stuff
in it. (In fact, the reason why something as generic as KFileReplace is in
kdewebdev is exactly because Quanta uses it.) Shipping KDE 3 Quanta with the
other stuff from KDE 4 kdewebdev is something we haven't been looking into,
because KDE 4 Quanta was always "coming soon". But now it's still not
released! We could look into it again…

<pre>Hi,

This is a really weird issue. Sometimes when I want to reboot, shutdown or log
out ('f' -&gt; Leave -&gt; Log out / Restart / Shut Down) nothing happens (the count
down messagebox doesn't appear) . Lock, Sleep and Hibernate are okay. There
are no error messages in .xsession-errors, /var/log/messages
/var/log/Xorg.0.log, /var/log/kdm.log and/or /var/log/secure.

When log out etc. fails authentication more generally seems to fail. e.g. I
tried to change the shutdown command (System Settings -&gt; Login Screen -&gt;
Shutdown). After pressing the Apply button, a messagebox appeared telling that
authentication failed. In /var/log/secure the following messages appeared:
