Cobbler-side installs to KVM, VMware?

<pre>I'm looking for an example, specifically showing the "power" settings in Cobbler, for how to initiate a Cobbler-side install to a KVM or VMware virtual machine. Most of what I've found so far involves using koan, not using the Cobbler side to kick things off.

To my surprise, even though there's a "fence_vmware" command, Cobbler is unaware of it. I've tried ipmitool based on one example, but haven't figured out the other power values to set in Cobbler.

Thanks in advance for any clues or documentation.

Doug

Have you configured rsync? If so, can you test it between the two
servers to ensure there's no firewall or other issues blocking the
rsync from working? You can check for errors related to that as well

Distros won't replicate if you use --omit-data, which results in the
profiles not replicating because their associated distros are not
present.

We have a master cobbler server, and two slaves which run a daily cron:

    cobbler repo add --name=el5-x86_64-local \

But the daily "cobbler replicate" gives an error message:

That "unknown module" error message is worrying.

Vivek,

You need to provide more information if you expect folk to be able to
help you. We can't guess what you've already done, you have to actually
tell us. In detail.

A (not very) subtle clue:

Also, please compose a new email to the mailing list rather than just
answering an existing one, if you are asking a new question. Otherwise
your messages just get lost in the thread.

Oh and please try to send emails that aren't all on one line. :)

Right, now onto your question:

* What exactly have you already done to try and solve your problem?

* How did you import/add the RHEL distribution?
- just copy it into place? Were any cobbler commands involved at all?

* Can you manually access the images link that your installing VM is
trying to find (try using a web browser)?

* What has this question got to do with cobbler?
It sounds like you are not trying to use cobbler at all. You may have
installed it, but have you actually configured any distribution</pre>

"ps -ef | grep http" says that root owns the main process, but then apache owns all the child processes.

This still does not explain the behavior in toggling the permissions.

<pre>To use one of my favorite literary quotes: Curiouser and curiouser !

Just to rule out a simple file permissions issue, I looked at the path to the log file:

Here's the before:

drwxr-xr-x 24 root root 4096 Mar 19 15:54 /var
drwx------ 24 root root 4096 May 23 04:02 /var/log

-rw-r--r-- 1 apache apache 1234 May 23 09:54 /var/log/cobbler/cobbler.log

So, I do this:
drwxrwxrwx 24 root root 4096 Mar 19 15:54 /var
drwxr-xr-x 24 root root 4096 May 23 04:02 /var/log
drwxrwxrwx 7 apache apache 4096 May 20 04:02 /var/log/cobbler/
-rw-rw-rw- 1 apache apache 844 May 23 09:48 /var/log/cobbler/cobbler.log

and the interface re-appears !

Now comes the weirdness: The interface continues to work/behave after I set the permissions back !

Cobbler is run by root.

# ps -ef | grep cobbler

The messages reported by "cobbler check" are not necessarily errors.
Instead a lot of them are merely suggestions, especially when it comes
to optional features, so do not treat them as absolutes.

sir ,,,
ihave this issue when i run cobbler check and even i have disabled selinux and firewall and rebooted too.....these are the errors..
The following are potential configuration items that you may want to fix:

1 : The 'server' field in /etc/cobbler/settings must be set to something other than localhost, or kickstarting features will not work. This should be a resolvable hostname or IP for the boot server as reachable by all machines that will use it.
2 : For PXE to be functional, the 'next_server' field in /etc/cobbler/settings must be set to something other than 127.0.0.1, and should match the IP of the boot server on the PXE network.

you may run 'cobbler get-loaders' to download them, or, if you only want to
handle x86/x86_64 netbooting, you may ensure that you have installed a
*recent* version of the syslinux package installed and can ignore this
message entirely. Files in this directory, should you want to support all
