<description>Just to add my two cents, I have contacted Greenspeed on numerous occasions
and they have always responded quickly. Spookily so! Of all the companies I
have ever dealt with, Greenspeed is far and away the best, as far a customer
relationships go. They even replaced a Dual Drive transmission that had
2,500 miles on it [and on a trike that I purchased used!].

    <description>Seen in Eugene.

Yesterday, I saw a TW-Bent trike here in Eugene, Or. I think it is an
"Apoyo" model

http://www.twbents.com.tw/HTM/recumbent.htm

This is an interesting concept. On the one hand, it can be disassembled
for shipping/transport. On the other hand, this feature seems like it
would make the trike frame more flexible and more vulnerable to fracture.

Cool looking trike, though.

Ring them (if you haven't already.

I've found them quite responsive to email, but on the rare occasions
when I've been in a hurry a phone call has done the trick.

You may find that they simply don't supply the service - they don't
sell second hand Greenspeeds and very rarely come into contact with
people doing that. I know that with the Lamb Tandem (Lamb family, with
trailer-trike) they simply put us in contact with the Lambs and left
us to it. But tandem trikes are very tricky to sell and tend to stay
on the market for long periods so it's no surprise that Ian was aware
of it.

A better approach might be to ask for replacement value based on a
brand new one. Or just apply their standard bicycle depreciation value
to that price to get your current value. I assume from your request
that the former is too high and the latter too low for your liking,
however, so you might have to just look at the for sale ads and
guess...

It must be my age LOL! Lady friend told me I was that heavy less then
five years ago! Not the bout 10 as I thot. Might be cause she does the
hugging around me LOL!
Hope to NEVER give up on triking, but, this old 'engine' sometimes
backfires going up hill. As you might guess, when reclining , the
'muffler' is up front (wink). My home is at the top of a small hill from
lake/park with a jogging/bike path around lake. First few times I didn't
make it back up. When I was able to make it up and into my driveway, my
veins almost popped out from my very red face! Gotten a little better at
it now.
In the beginning, some of the thugs around park used to make remarks
about my "sissy" bike. Tried to explain reason for desiring such extreme
comfort and the term 'tike'. Guess they are used to me now, even saw few
girls riding df s around park. Btw, now have a smaller profile auto under
sweat shirt.
There was a thread about getting service at 'drive-ins' on a cycle.

    <description>Folks,
I have a second hand GLR that was built from a tube kit. Its value is well
into the specified items level, especially now that I have electrified it.
But that is another story.

I have tried contacting Greenspeed on a few occasions but it seems to keep
getting lost in the cracks.

So I am trying to find a bike shop preferably in Adelaide that will do write
up a valuation for me so I can get it insured. I am happy to pay a
reasonable fee for time, I just need to get it sorted out since it is worth
far to much to not be insured.

Any suggestions / Recommendations ??

Regards,
Pete

You're correct. I still don't believe it really 'is' a trike! Trufully
it is a scooter. Also, it does not belong on this list. I just wanted
help in locating Bret. I also agree that he kinda pushed it too far .
Received few replys and finally an address. All following correspondence
shall be directed to one person instead of the list. Tnx to Fran, I found
a "TriKKetalk Forum". Have it bookmarked, shall join list and very likely
buy one of "dat damm dar tangz"!
Tnx to all who replied.

three wheels and a name similar to trike, this was an appropriate place for
discussion. Pleeease, this is a horse so dead there is nothing left to kick.

<description>It's not AMTRAK. Talk to the Cumbres &amp; Toltec Scenic RR. It's close to
you. The trains aren't always full maybe you could pedal from Chama
over the pass to Antonito and take the train back. The only thing that
meets your needs on short notice is the KATY trail. To help with
logistics, there is a train that runs across MO from St. Louis to KC.
That may help with getting back home after riding west to east. Most
take AMTRAK to an organized ride and then back home. Take a look at
rail to trail bike paths and see what cites have train service.

<description>I may be no trouble at all. Some airlines don't require boxing. US Air
told me if I was flying on a full size jet where the cargo doors are large
enough they would just take it as is. Greyhound used to take trikes as is.
Here on the Atlantic seaboard we have Amtrak baggage cars - not many - with
bike racks. They want the bikes boxed if it is a standard baggage car. If
it is obviously not boxable, they might just let is go as is if you can
immobilize the wheels so it doesn't roll around.

Since a trike is not normal and not covered by "THE RULES" this sort of
thing is negotiable. A flexible, creative, friendly, and unflappable manner
is always helpful in these situations, It is hard to plan ahead for this
sort of thing. The nicely expressed, "Oh man, my whole vacation is going
to be messed up...is there anything we can do?" can go a long way. ALso
the less urban more personal train stations might be better, or worse. Who
knows.

Good luck.

    <description>Hi Grant,

No personal experience but I have heard some horror stories from
folks trying to transport tandems.

I think on most of the cars you can handle your own baggage. Last
time I rode, there was a good sized room below that was little used.

I think a good bet would be to talk directly to the stationmaster
where you intend to board.

It sounds like a great idea to me. Good Luck! And let us know what
happens.
