You need to embedd the images as well as a resources as well and access in
the same way, e.g. the URL to the image would be "res://myapp.exe/2_PNG" if
you gave the 2.png file that name.

Apologies for the HTML post - I forgot that Yahoo doesn't allow that.
Anyway, I just grabbed the latest from SVN and discovered that Nenad
already worked around this problem by inserting extra "_ATL_VER >=
0x0B00" conditions in atlapp.h. D'oh! Well, I still prefer my
solution, as I don't think it's appropriate for WTL to be defining
functions in ATL's namespace. However, as the specific issue has been
addressed, I will leave things as they are.

By the way, the SF project pages indicate that WTL80 is the latest
version - maybe somebody could update that.

Hi folks,

As per bugs 696790<http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/696790/atl-missing-general-dll-version-helpers>
and 731919<http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/731919/wtl-8-1-in-vc-11>
on
Microsoft Connect, ATL 11 ceases to define AtlGetDllVersion,
AtlGetCommCtrlVersion, and AtlGetShellVersion, preventing WTL apps from
compiling with VS2012.

I propose to fix the problem by breaking this dependency on undocumented
ATL functions and adding the equivalent functions WtlGetDllVersion,
WtlGetCommCtrlVersion, and WtlGetShellVersion to atlapp.h. Any objections?

Cheers,

- Jim

Just set the LVS_EX_LABELTIP extended style on the listview, and make sure
your _WIN32_WINNT define is at least 0x0500 in your stdafx.h.

Hi
Maybe you can use two ListView controls besides each other. The first one to include the fixed column and the other one for scrolling columns.

I think I have to answer my own question. NO. It's crashing and needs a much better design. The support from Microsoft seems to be there.
Todd.
Maybe for simple jobs it's OK.

Thanks Igor!
do you recommend the Resourceless Dialog Toolkit?

http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Edit.aspx?fid=91336&floc=/Articles/7994/Resourceless-dialogs

It needs some updates for unicode strings if anyone wants to look at that. in 'ResourcelessDlg.h' at 'WriteString()'
Maybe this should just be simplified, to not convert any characters. Not sure.

Todd.

If you want to have mouse-down initiate a drag of the window, I'd say
you should intercept it and prevent it from reaching that HTML element.
If the element never sees mouse-down, it wouldn't care about not seeing
mouse-up.

It is because I am hosting a web browser, and the web browser has an HTML element that expect onMouseUp event, and somehow onMouse up is not fired once I use WM_SYSCOMMAND.

So at the end of the SC_MOVE, tried to dispatch a WM_LBUTTONUP to the browser, but still browser element didn't get the mouse up event.

Therefore I also tried to use WM_NCHITTEST with WM_EXITSIZEMOVE and got the event, but once the browser is visible, WM_NCHITTEST is also not fired.

Still trying other approaches, will keep you post if I find any solution.

SC_MOVE initiates a modal message loop that processes mouse messages and
translates them into window movement. That's why those mouse messages
don't reach your normal message pump.

Why do you need individual mouse messages while the window is being
moved? What are you trying to achieve? Would WM_MOVING message serve
your purpose?

My program is a chromeless window and I want to move the window when
user drag any part of my dialog. Once WM_SYSCOMMAND is used, all
subsequent mouse events are lost.

First I wrote a program to capture the mouse events and all working fine
with WTL.

BEGIN_MSG_MAP(CMainDlg)     MSG_WM_LBUTTONUP(OnMouseUp)
MSG_WM_LBUTTONDOWN(OnMouseDown) .... LRESULT OnMouseDown ( UINT uKeys,
CPoint pt ) { print ("on mouse down"); return 0; } LRESULT
OnMouseUp ( UINT uKeys, CPoint pt ) {     print ("on mouse up");
return 0; }
Then I change onMouseDown above to,

LRESULT OnMouseDown ( UINT uKeys, CPoint pt ) { print ("on mouse
down");     this->SendMessageW(WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MOVE|0x0002);
return 0; }
The drag is working and the windows move along with the mouse. However,
OnMouseUp event is no longer fired.

Tried many different approach using WM_NCHITTEST, or ProcessMessage
setHandled to true/false without success.

Much appreciate if anyone has any suggestions [Smile | :)]

You need to call DoDataExchange(FALSE), somewhere near the top of
OnInitDialog. That's what walks the DDX map and acts on its entries.

I have a variable for the edit control and the variable is connected to the dialog:
BEGIN_DDX_MAP(CCWEditDlg)
DDX_CONTROL(IDC_EDIT1, m_wndEdit)
DDX_TEXT(IDC_EDIT1, m_sEditContents)
END_DDX_MAP()

My variable m_wndEdit is defined as this type:
class CCmtEditControl : public CWindowImpl<CCmtEditControl, CEdit>

I am probably missing something to be able to refer m_wndEdit.IsWindow(), and manipulate it as a window object? (that can refer to the dialog edit control).
When I call m_wndEdit.IsWindow() it's false there at OnInitDialog().

Thanks very much Igor!

What makes you believe that? By the time OnInitDialog is called, all controls specified in the dialog resource should already have been created.

At the dialog OnInitDialog() the control is not a window. (has no handle I assume)

How can I create it to manipulate it before the dialog is fully created?

Also, is there a really good example of creating controls
programmatically?
