IP blocking won't really work though. Most IP addresses are dynamic so the
person in question may have unlimited amounts of IP addresses and one of
your legit readers may fall on one of those IP addresses and be blocked.

The word "page_name" is not a valid URL piece to begin with, and
neither is "id". Essentially, neither of these words is looked at by
WordPress, so it thinks you're asking for the main page.

Notice how /?pagename=foo or /?p=1234567890 will both give you a

WordPress is redirecting to my home page instead of issuing a page not found
error when people looking to buy garbage (insert spam term here) are sent to
pages Spammers wish were on my site .

For instance try appending /?page_name=trash&id=1995 to any WordPress url.
Instead of getting a page not found it goes to the home page. This is bad
because Google's algorithm seems to associate the trash terms with my site
if it doesn't get a 401 error.

I could be wrong about Google's associations but the trash terms are not in
my theme, content, or database and Google hasn't reduced the keyword
standings for the trash terms. - On my best day I get 20,000 hits that may
be legit. With the miracle of spam my pages can get 80,000 hits.  Guess what
Google thinks are significant terms for my site.

Is this a bug or have I missed the beauty of something?

Hello,

I think I may have come across a regression in the latest nightly build.

I'm using the following url on it's own line to embed a video from Youtube:

Here's a screenshot from trunk:

Notice how the trunk embed appears at a width of 300px while the 3.3.1 
example appears at a width of 584px.

584 is the value of the $content_width global which seems to be ignored 
in trunk.

I've tested with Twenty Eleven as well as a few other themes that I have 
installed locally and the results were the same as outlined above.

Ah I see that'll explain things then as I have a cron to download it 
daily to my dev server and update all my test installs, it also 
downloads the beta one from the svn and I think things got a bit mixed 
up when I was moving my stuff over to a newer faster server on my local 
network.

Also just for future this thread is a bit of a mixture of top posting 
and bottom posting, but as its not got that many replies not too hard to 
follow, just a mention as some lists have rules/guidelines against top 
posting.
