Re: Thinlet for MIDP about Chinese.

Thinlet draws strings on a canvas. If your phone's
canvas allows showing chinese characters just use
unicode strings and thinlet will give them as usual to
the canvas which should the actual party handling it.

There are some phones which have a language in the
phone but not in the MIDP KVM when the KVM is
thirdparty. This is specially true for Palm / Windows
phones available in Middle East, they have Arabic
menus and all but all that I have seen are not able to
handle Arabic in MIDP, while Nokias are able to do
that.

I would try a simple non-thinlet canvas application to
make sure MIDP supports Chinese and then continue with
Thinlet, while you would need a software to generate
Unicode for your strings. I think there should be one
as a plugin to jEdit.

Hi,

It doesn't seem to detect selected cell. Your case is pretty similar
to my room reservation scenario. You could build your own grid using
textfield or button. See http://demo.artsoft.ca/

Hi Markus,

Yes, that's how I redirect to another URL if the applet is embedded in
a web page. If you launch Thinlet without a browser (e.g. using
WebStart), you will have to resort to the JNLP BasicService API
(http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/examples.html#BasicService).
I think I did it before but couldn't find the code any more. But
shouldn't be difficult to figure out. Good luck.

Hi Ramesh,

Yes, there are other dependencies. The sample was just taken out from
an old application intended to give you an example of Thinlet MDI. The
code you mentioned are Spring specific. You can simple strip those out
and instantiate directly in your code, e.g.

ContentView content = new ContentView();

and so forth. The reason why I use Spring IoC on the client side was
only because I use their HttpInvoker for remoting so might as well use
their IoC container. Please modify to suit your purpose. Let me know
should you need help.

Robert I need Thinlet sample code for demo application

Hi Robert,
I am a newbie for thinlet, I was looking the demo on your
website. It is so cool. Is there any way we can get the source code,
so that we have practice bit by bit and understand the working of
Thinlet.

BTW, in you website you have posted :
July 15, 2005. Porsche Engineering developed a version of Thinlet
based on MIDP. The source is available here.

Looks like the source is not complete.

Thanks

Ramesh

Why MDI Main Frame closes, when I close other frame

Hi Guys,
      In my mdi Application, I open one MDI Main Frame and open
another one through menu. but when close one frame, the whole
application closed. Why.

Here is my code:

   /**
     * Callback handler for the 'action' method of
menuitem 'farmerInfo'.
     */
    public void doFarmerInfo()   {
    System.out.println("*** Open Farmer Data Entry Screen ***");
    new FrameLauncher("New small frame",feh,150,150);
    }

    /**
     * Show a test frame with the Thinlet contents.
     *
     * < at >param args  ignored.
     */
    public static void main(String[] args) throws
java.io.IOException {
    MDIMainMenuHandler mdimh = new MDIMainMenuHandler();
    new FrameLauncher("MDIMainMenuHandler",mdimh , 1000, 650);
    }

Is there any thing only one frame should exist.

Thanks for your valuble time

Ramesh

using the includes parser

Hi ... I'm an newbie and want to read the value of an xml-element with
the includes parser. for an attribute it's easy -> for example:

protected void startElement(String name, Hashtable attributlist){
  if ("Person".equals(name)){
     myHashtable.put(attributlist.get("Name"), attributlist);
  }
}

if the xml looks like:

<Person Name="My Name"/>

But how do I get the value of element Name, if the xml looks like?

<Person>
   <Name>My Name</Name>
</Person>

Thank you very much for your help!!!!
