Dear CARGO enthusiasts

After about 7 weeks after the last release, I decided we have enough
changes and fixed bugs in order to go ahead with CARGO 1.2.2. As for
what's new, the list is this time small (12 entries):

*Improvements and new features* (5)

  *
      o Jetty containers now support datasources (CARGO-1107
        <https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CARGO-1107>)
      o Jetty 7.x standalone local container is now the default
        container for the CARGO Maven2/Maven3 plugin (CARGO-1106
        <https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CARGO-1106>) and downloads its
        container via the artifactInstaller
      o The usage of an external jetty-env.xml file has finally been
        documented (CARGO-861 <https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CARGO-861>)
      o The XML/properties replacement engine can now WARN when a
        replacement is not possible (instead of failing) (CARGO-1099
        <https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CARGO-1099>)
      o Deployers (and mostly undeployers) can now intelligently ign

I managed to make it work by adding missing jars to the lib of my local
GlassFish, that is quite bad solution.

The problem i noticed here is that i had config for missing jar via
<sharedClasspath> element but the classes in this jar are not visible to the
code in my own webapp.

I'm using Cargo 1.0.6, quite old version.

the merge definition seems ok.

I also use the XML Merger, but never merged welcome-file-list.

Which version of cargo do you use. A short test with my files results in list with empty tags.

I guess it is a bug.

Can you change the source files. If it is possible you can define all files in both web.xml files.

Thank you for these details. I've opened

tests to see with which containers setting system property does actually
work). You can try version 1.2.2-SNAPSHOT if you want to see it in

Hi, Dear Developers:
   I have questions about NodeMerge.
   I want to merge two wars, warA has a web.xml, it has element
<welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
  </welcome-file-list>
the web.xml of warB has element as below
<welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>default.html</welcome-file>
      <welcome-file>test.jsp</welcome-file>
  </welcome-file-list>
I want to merge welcome-file-list and without any information lost, how to
define the merge strategy?
Currently ,I'm using below
<tag name="welcome-file-list">
            <strategy name="NodeMerge">
            <welcome-file-list>
                <welcome-file>$left:welcome-file</welcome-file>
                <welcome-file>$right:welcome-

Yes, I did. Especially the single one was most interesting as I don't
have modules right now. I've made some adjustments and also discovered
my maven phases was called like "pre-integration-phase", so I changed
that to "pre-integration-test". I'm not sure where "phase" came from.

Now Cargo seems to start up Tomcat fine, there is a failsafe report
about the tests that do fail and the server seems to be stopped. The
build is successful. However I get a NullPointerException somewhere at
the first request (which is http://localhost:8180/Roo-Webdriver-IT)
from my test or manually. This does not happen when I start up the
server within Eclipse and run the tests against that. This does seem
to be outside of Cargo though.

Is Cargo actually just taking my finished WAR and deploying that? If
so, there must be a difference with the deployment made by Cargo and
the one Eclipse make

Hi Ali

you have to use asadmin's command create-system-properties.

Example:

$INVOKE_ASADMIN create-system-properties hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=create-drop

You can pass multiple properties at the same time by joining them with a colon:

$INVOKE_ASADMIN create-system-properties hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=create-drop:derby.system.home=/Users/Denis/Documents/projet/target/derby

$INVOKE_ASADMIN is the common invocation sequence for asadmin, "$JAVA -jar /Users/Denis/.../admin-cli.jar --interactive=false --port 4848 --user admin --passwordfile ...", same as used to deploy the war file, for eample

This is described on <http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18930_01/html/821-2433/create-system-properties-1.html#SJSASEEREFMANcreate-system-properties-1>

Can you please send your full pom.xml? Usually, such issues are usually
due to the way different plugins' executions are interlinked.

Also, my personal recommendation would be for you to compare your
configuration to the archetypes. Read more on:

I'm using Surefire 2.8 excluding integration tests and let Failsafe
2.12 run the integration tests.

As the tests does run though the server isn't starting up resulting in
build success and test failure, I'm obviously missing some set up that
would allow some action of Failsafe indirectly or directly to start up
the server via Cargo. Failsafe executes the goals "integration-test"
and "verify" and I want Cargo to start the server prior to running the
integration tests and to stop the server when they're done.

I've read the documentation and several articles, but I'm obviously
missing some details here. It would

NodeMerge question

Hi, Dear Developers:
   I have questions about NodeMerge.
   I want to merge two wars, warA has a web.xml, it has element
<welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
  </welcome-file-list>
the web.xml of warB has element as below
<welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>default.html</welcome-file>
      <welcome-file>test.jsp</welcome-file>
  </welcome-file-list>
I want to merge welcome-file-list and without any information lost, how to
define the merge strategy?
Currently ,I'm using below
<tag name="welcome-file-list">
            <strategy name="NodeMerge">
            <welcome-file-list>
                <welcome-file>$left:welcome-file</welcome-file>
                <welcome-file>$right:welcome-file</welcome-file>
            </welcome-file-list>
            </strategy>
          </tag>
result is
<welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
    <welcome-file>default.html</welcome-file>
  </welcome-file-list>
but my expect is
<welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>ind

Hi Denis

CARGO actually sets the JVM options on the asadmin command; which as you
can see doesn't set it on the container.

Do you by chance know how to make asadmin pass commands to the container
it starts?

Thank you

Hi

I'm using the maven cargo plugin 1.2.1.

I want to overwrite some properties during the deployment of my war to glasssfish 3.1, but this doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone got this working?

In my pom, I set:

Hi Hoang

If you see a ClassNotFound, it means that a library is missing.

Does the application work with a normal GlassFish instance? What steps
do you follow to make it work on a normal GlassFish instance?

Thank you

Hi Adrian

Fair enough. As far as I understood from
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Jetty/Feature/JNDI the jetty-env.xml file (or,
alternatively, jetty.xml file if you want the deifinitions to be global)
is used to define resources such as datasources.

We have now documented the inclusing of external jetty-env.xml files via
the configuration files option on
http://cargo.codehaus.org/Configuration+files+option

Cheers
