Nope, if the button is from flash _content_ there's nothing Gnash can do
to take it out. It would take an artificial intelligence to figure out which
button you'd want to automatically click... but not even a human intelligence
could easily figure out.

The best support I could imagine for that would be an interaction script to
run when a movie URL matches a pattern. There's currently no support for
interaction scripts in the desktop gnash applications, would be nice to add
that if you can :)

Can you tell me which extension you are talking about ? I don't have any

extensions folder and check it?

The "Play Button" you refer to is not implemented by Gnash but by an

  * Node id mapping in ActionScript XML class implemented (XML.idMap).

    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gnu.gnash.devel/1805</link>
<description>&lt;pre&gt;I've submitted a project on pubsoft.org for implementing a Gnash
windowless mode plugin [1]. Pubsoft is a no-profit corporation with
501(c)(3) status. All donations to the fund are tax-deducible on US
federal taxes.

[1] https://www.pubsoft.org/pubsoft.py/project?proj=GnashWindowlessPlugin

A windowless mode plugin would be an in-process plugin, now possible
thanks to the re-entrant interface Benjamin worked on.

Windowless plug-ins extend the possibilities for web page design and
functionalities [2]. Any web site relying on these extensions currently
fails with Gnash [3].

Chris,
thank you very much for your feedback.
It's much more common to get negative one, so we all mostly know
gnash sucks hard and easily forget about how good it is :)

Now it'd be helpful to make it even better by fixing support for
the sites that here and there don't work, by reducing it's cost in
CPU usage, by making it more known so that web site authors make sure
they don't keep us Gnash users out in the dark.

I surely hope more people can help with any of that, with time or
fundings :)

So well done to the whole Gnash Development Team and Community. Nice effort!

Does not, but could be made supporting it.
Just, it takes a lot of time and developers don't have enough
fundings to spend this much on it, so prefer to deal with better
compatibility with older versions.

Note that it's not about SWF 10, but about ABC code.
You can have SWF 10 with no ABC code in it, that kind would
be supported by Gnash.

ABC code was introduced with SWF 9, so movies up to SWF 8 would
be more easily supported, and aren't 100% so yet, so for some devs
reaching 100% compatibility of up to SWF 8 makes more sense than
getting a bit wet in ABC space but still doing badly old and new
content. This is of course based on time scarcity, so sponsorship
might change the balance.
