<pre>Hi, I have some doubts regarding Axis2C I hope someone is able to answer.

We are developing a REST web service which requires to share information among
several threads. That is, during the service initialization we create a new
thread that holds some status and spans more threads as necessary by the
system.

Our issue is that when using our module with the standalone server, everything
works fine for low loads, but as already mentioned in other threads in this
mailing list that server does not scale for high loads.

On the other hand when using the module through mod_axis2 (with apache
configured with the mpm-worker) we have quite strange behavior:
- When not using the keyword Axis2GlobalPoolSize our service gets initialized
several times, and we are not able to share information among threads, which
is weird since we should be able to share info among threads. Just in case we
configured apache to span only one process with threads.
- When using global pools the module is initialized just once but</pre>

<pre>Hi,

what is your encoding="" set for ??? at the beginning of a xml stream which you intend to parse?

can you try with and play/set other encodings
to the same content in the xml prior to parsing it?

we had similar problems first.
When a XML like the one shown below,
with German / French characters
(all only ISO-8859-1) makes it
then you're on a good way.

Also encoding and display is another issue you have to cared about.
And what we do in our web service. We send a iteratively generated chars
added up in a string over the line and compare it at the receiving
etch, client or server and if something fails, we know where to look at.

We have built in methods just doing loop-backs with data sent at given points in the subsystem.
It helps to isolate such problems.

i.e. our client is windows based.
at windows the encoding is Western European WINDOWS,
axis2 ten moves it as UTF-8 between CL and SV,
but the legacy-server on OpenVMS needs it as ISO-8859-1
into the ORACLE DB

what is your configuration?

unfortunately I have a problem with a deserialize function in my
Webservice named SparePartForecastService.

I am using axis2c 1.6.0 on a Linux Server. A special department in our

With this WSDL I generate a skeleton and a stub using adb. I append here
the WSDL (hope one can read it)

All files were generated without any error. And with the help of
Dimuthu's Blog I was able
to develop a working client and a working Server.

The client then constructs and sends the following SOAP message:

<pre>Hi,

With kind help from Graham Holden, I did following to parse multilingual
characters using apache-axis2c-libxml2 parser.

Platform  - Red Hat Linux
- I had an apache that uses axis2c with below 'inclusion'
LoadModule axis2_module modules/mod_axis2.so
Axis2RepoPath ${AXIS2C_HOME}
Axis2LogFile  /localhome/stab4/log/axis.log
Axis2LogLevel trace
&lt;Location /axis2&gt;
SetHandler axis2_module
&lt;/Location&gt;

- The axis2c version is 1.6.0
- This was originally compiled using Guththila parser. Some threads indicated
that I need to compile axis2c using libxml2 parser for it to process
multilingual characters.
- So, I saw that my axis had below files under /axiom/src/parser/libxml2/
libxml2_reader_wrapper.c  Makefile     Makefile.in
libxml2_writer_wrapper.c  Makefile.am  SCCS

- I recompiled axis using libxml2 parser (./configure --enable-libxml2).
- Without doing any changes to apache configuration, I replace my axis libs and
bins.
- I did not change my earlier parser code as it was using axiom APIs.
- I ran my test ca</pre>

<pre>Hi Tim,
         Sorry for the delay in my response, I wasn't able to answer
you sooner... I have a question: What do you mean when you say that
every thread has it's own environment? I'm not entirely sure if that
is correct, I've been using one environment for all the threads,
because the environment has certain synchronization mechanisms such as
a mutex for using the log, etc... But, as I said earlier, I'm not 100%
percent certain that the environment should be used that way... Can
someone confirm which way the environment should be used?
         Also, about the bug, I've been using the trunk version of the
code and the bug is still there... Actually, I've trying to solve the
issue, but it is caused by several file openings that are not being
validated which are scattered around the code and only fail under a
lot of load, which makes kind of hard to find them all. The issue is
described in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AXIS2C-1001 and is
still open... Actually I'm very interested in someone findin</pre>

<pre>Hi,

Thanks for your response! I ended up using two separate request threads,
each with their own stub/environment etc. and I reuse the
thread-specific client for each request. It seems to work just fine, I'm
glad to know others have used the same methodology. Interesting about the
bug, I'm actually using the 1.7 release candidate maybe it was fixed there?

<pre>Hi Tim,
          We were using axis2/c in a similar way, reusing the
synchronous client to send requests... It seems to work better than
spawning one client per request, because every client must allocate
several resources (file descriptors, etc) which makes the client
slower...
           However, you must be aware there is a bug when spawning
many clients (starting more or less at a 100 clients) that makes the
client segfault, because some file openings are not being validated,
and when the file descriptors for the process saturate there is an
invalid file descriptor somewhere... For those sort of loads it is
better to implement some sort of process pool, in order to avoid the
bug...

Hope it was helpful
Regards
Alex

I'm currently using Axis2C with wsdl-generated stubs. At the moment I
create a single stub/environment, then use that to make
multiple synchronous requests one after another, while I recreate the ADB
objects for each request but I reuse the stub. This seems to work fine (is
it ok to reuse the same stub?)

However to make the app more responsive, I'd like to have one or more
threads spawned to send the syncrounous requests. If I create multiple
stubs/environments, can I reuse each one in it's own thread to perform the
calls, or is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

This is in fact not the aim of the JIRA system, and an assignment
would be the least you can expect since Nov 2010. This my thoughts.

The other thing you can do is: to provide your fix to developers.
They are short on developer-power and are very thankful for help.
They can sniff it in and you can then test the trunk one more time.

As I noticed that over the last few months there had been numerous
patches and fixes applied to the trunk of Axis2C I tried latest Trunk
code against an asp.net soap service returning soap faults.
Unfortunately, the issue with not populating all fault members
apparently has not been fixed yet as current code behaves exactly the
same way in regards to this functionality.

Has anyone come up with a workaround for this issue or am I the only
one having problems with this and having a need for soap fault
support?

Thanks in advance,

Betreff: Trying to get the username in the web service

Folks,

What I am trying to do is build a way to track which user calls which
operation within the service.

I am attempting to determine what the username was that was setup in the
rampart structure from within the web service.

From within the service_invoke function I am doing this:

                        conf_ctx = axis2_msg_ctx_get_conf_ctx( msg_ctx,
env );

                        if( conf_ctx == NULL )

                        {

                                Log( "Failed to find configuration
context" );

                        }

                        else

                        {

                                Log( "about to get
axis2_conf_ctx_get_conf" );

Guess I should have asked the question earlier! ;-)

<pre>Hi Josef,
thanks for your reply .
I'm writing a Client program , this Program is getting a full SOAP
envelop from a different application .
my experience with AXIS2\C is in writing a client programs but I used the
WSDL2C to produce the stub , and then used the function that was built
automatically for me .
the Originial question is: What actions can I perform in order to send it
forward to the Webservice provider the SOAP Envelop ? .

<pre>Hi Matan,

If I understand you correct, you are saying that you have mastered axiom/C to build a model and then use serialize() to write this xml string? While serializing from an OMElement is easy, the harder part is to write your parser and create this/your object model using axiom/C routines. I would also suggest, but I believe you did so already, to have a look at the examples delivered with the AXIS2/C binary installation. And another very good resource is the AXIS2/C source kit itself. There you will find test to test Axiom and finally the simple-server, and a lot is there to get known of it.

Will serializing and de-serializing is one thing; the other thing is how to make up and deploy your server and your client; for that I suggest to start with the examples found in the AXIS2/C installation unless you understand all of it. Also, I personally found it very helpful to download the AXIS2/C sources and build my AXIS2/C distribution myself. It is not so hard if you use Visual Studio,; Later on you </pre>
