I've committed an updated README so that at least we don't display
outdated content. Now, depending on how you wish to proceed, the steps
would be:

1) Juergen checks if there is something else to correct/add (I haven't
added anything so far)

2) We ask the doc list for a native speaker to proofread the README

3) We start translation. So far, translation teams always used the full
README file. If we want to port it to a PO file too (which might be
helpful in the long run), the result of
$ html2po -P readme.xrm readme.pot
looks rather usable.

   Andrea.

Oh! Well this explanation certainly helps! Thanks. No wonder. Maybe
something we should make former users aware of too. I, too, usually just do
an install with *.rpm option, but I had some other old rpms in this same
location, so I just tried to pick off the AOO4 ones. But I missed some.

Anyway, all good for now. I am looking forward to some testing now! :)

The extension seems to be OK, at least I could install it, it appears
listed in Tools - XML Filter Settings.... The problem seems to be with
the transformation itself, did you try it from that dialog?

- Select your filter from the "XML Filter Settings"
- Press the "Test XSLTs..." button.
- Check "Display source"
- Press the "Browse..." button and browse to your test file, 1691624.xml
- this will open the "XML Filter output", press the "Validate" button.
You'll see that there are two errors

It is this issue, right?
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-6217
If I recall correctly, this would be the (relatively!) easy one, since
the hardware is already available and quite powerful, and it is entirely
allocated to OpenOffice.

I agree it is important. In this case we have everything available
within the ASF and this was already marked as "release relevant" in
discussions with Infra. I hope it can get addressed soon, let's maybe
try to get an estimate from Infra on when they expect to find time for
this. Or ask them what we can do to help: setting up a CentOS VM, given
specifications, is something that several of us could start.

   Andrea.

With these fixes it looks fine. Some minor improvements: I think there
shouldn't be a comma between year and copyright owner in general, and
that the year should be repeated. So I'd have something like [replace

I couldn't reproduce the problem installing the latest 32-bit RPMs from
http://people.apache.org/~arielch/developer-snapshots/snapshot/linux_x86/Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.0_Linux_x86_install-rpm_en-US.tar.gz

but I always install with an explicit prefix, i.e., something like

sudo mkdir -p /opt/openoffice-snapshot/.rpm
sudo rpm -ivh --dbpath /opt/openoffice-snapshot/.rpm --nodeps --prefix
/opt/openoffice-snapshot *.rpm

Anyway, if you install the full set you don't end up with anything in
"/program", right? Otherwise the packaging must be revised.

This should be normal since the 3-layer office is now removed. By
comparison, a 3.4.1 setup would have this structure:

/opt/openoffice-341/
|-- openoffice.org
`-- openoffice.org3

while the OpenOffice 4.x-snapshot setup would only have the
"openoffice4" folder, containing stuff that used to be in other folders
(in my case, "program" has about 400 files in the snapshot, as opposed
to about 30 in 3.4.1).

   Andrea.

As written in the issue: I would suggest to use a generic link to
http://www.openoffice.org so that we don't depend on hard-coded URLs.

The English version will always be available from the English site
footer, the (say) French version could be in the French site
http://www.openoffice.org/fr , or linked from
http://www.openoffice.org/privacy.html , or not ready yet... but this
way we can keep flexibility for the future.

Note that, unless I missed some updates, the crash reporting tool is not
enabled at the moment, so users who install the official version won't
see the tool and therefore won't see this string.

   Andrea.

Dot slash in linux is current directory and because i have Filter.xcu in
root, then path with dot is OK. After trying a lot more path's i realized,
i can use simple:
com.sun.star.documentconversion.XSLTFilter,,com.sun.star.comp.Writer.XMLOasisImporter,,%origin%/filter/navrh.xsl,
and with this Filter.xcu is pointing to path (i called extension as
xmll.oxt)
vnd.sun.star.expand:$UNO_USER_PACKAGES_CACHE/uno_packages/lufdfefm.tmp_/xmll.oxt/filter/navrh.xsl

After testing (xsl - only filter, oxt -the same filter inside extension):
LO - 4.0.3.3, OO 3.4.1
LO on Ubuntu - xsl ok, oxt ok
OO on Ubuntu - xsl ok, oxt dont work
LO on Windows 7 - xsl dont work, oxt dont work
OO on Windows 7 - xsl OK, oxt dont work

In attachment is extension and xml (anonymized data)

Maybe is problem in encoding, because xml is windows-1250, but i am not
sure, because only filter partialy works

Thanks for the information. Indeed, what we have will often be enough to
judge whether someone has made significant contributions or not. The
fact that we periodically refresh the Pootle database shouldn't be a
problem: we will notice who did the translation job when we approve the
suggestions, and this will be a huge step forward with respect to the
"anonymous only" model we would have been forced to adopt with the old
Pootle.

Sure. We won't put a quantitative threshold. But the new Pootle will
allow us to see who did the bulk of the translation work into a language
and (when we have enough committers across all the languages) to judge
who is making high-quality contributions. And this can be the basis to
invite new committers.
