<pre>
RM&gt; I just updated to the march snapshot, and have discovered the following
RM&gt; issue:
RM&gt;
RM&gt; 10.07.2012 21:00:52: Mail log: Can't open mailbox \\SKELETOR\rick\home\RICKNET\rick\AppData\Mahogany\lists\dm-crypt: no such mailbox

Hello,

I finally found the time to test it and I indeed see the problem.
Apparently upgrading UW IMAP (c-client) library has broken UNC paths
handling, it prepended the current drive name to them internally and so had
no chance of working :-( I've fixed it now, will test it a bit more and
make another Win32 binary.

RM&gt; I hope someone can help, as I'm somewhat worried about the changes the
RM&gt; latest snapshot did to my configuration, and whether going back to the
RM&gt; old M.exe will safely recover my settings.

It will refuse to go back but you can force it to by setting the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mahogany-Team\M\Profiles\Version registry value
to 0.67.0 (it should currently be at 0.68). The changes in the profiles
format were relatively insignificant so you shouldn't lose anything.

RM&gt; PS: I hope this list is still functional - it has become a tad silent
RM&gt; over the years ;)

I'd love to say that it's because M is so perfect that nobody complains
about it :-/ If only I didn't have several gazillion ideas about how it
could be improved...

Thanks for reporting this bug,
VZ

10.07.2012 21:00:52: Mail log: Can't open mailbox \\SKELETOR\rick\home\RICKNET\rick\AppData\Mahogany\lists\dm-crypt: no such mailbox
10.07.2012 21:00:52: Could not open mailbox 'lists/dm-crypt'.

When the file clearly exists (pasting the line into explorer opens the file) and has worked with the 2008 snapshot.

Is this a bug, a problem with the ported configuration, or something else entirely?

I hope someone can help, as I'm somewhat worried about the changes the latest snapshot did to my configuration, and whether going back to the old M.exe will safely recover my settings.

Best regards,

Rick

<pre>

Hi again,

This is not really relevant to your question but let me say that it's
probably not a good idea to use M with POP3 servers. Support for them is
notionally there, but M is an IMAP client first and foremost and I must
have last tested POP3 in the last millennium.

Actually, the options are a superposition of the folder settings and
identity settings and normally the latter should overwrite the former.

This is obviously a bug :-(

What definitely works -- as I sometimes use this myself -- is to have
several identities with different SMTP servers and select the one you want
to use explicitly in the combobox to the right of "From" address in the
composer window. Did you try to do it like this?

VZ

Hello Markus,

No, M doesn't support X.509 certificates. I looked into this several years
ago but it was quite a non-trivial thing to add so it also doesn't look
likely that support for this is going to be added in the observable future,
unless I personally suddenly have an urgent need for it.

Sorry,

<pre>
I created two identities, each with their own POP3-server, SMTP-server,
email-adress and user name. What I wanted to achieve was to receive emails
from the two POP3 servers and sent to the two SMTP servers switchign to one
or the other identity. But that didn't work. It doesn't switch SMTP
servers. There can only one SMTP server be configured. Although if I open
the properties there is in each of the folder under network another server
configured it uses the one server that is configuered in Preferences. I
checked that in the log window (detailed mail transfer logging enabled).
And if I remove all server information in the Preferences and only have
two different SMTP servers in the properties of the two folders, it can not
send mail at all, but reports instead: Invalid host specifier:
/novalidate-cert Obviously it tried it with no host at all. So it takes the
SMTP host name from the general Preferences, but in order to maintain two
identitties I'd need it to use the SMTP host names ans user names from the
folder properties or from the identities. How do I achieve this?

Regards, Markus.

Yes, it does. I sent screenshot but got back "Message body is too big: 49550 bytes

Yes, it seems like configure 'should have' handled the case of my not having a yacc installed correctly.
I also did not and do not have bison installed.
I will try it next.
