I'm currently running a ktest that is similar to what I think I ran when
the bug hit (I didn't save off the config file :-( )

But it looks like it did do a mrproper between switching gcc's so I no
longer think that was the issue.

Thanks,

&amp;gt; I'm kicking off the ktest that initially caused this issue hoping that
&amp;gt; it reproduces the bad tree again.
 &amp;gt;
&amp;gt; BTW, did you happen to upgrade gcc or anything? The ktest I run does
&amp;gt; test against different gcc's and I don't think I had it do a make clean
&amp;gt; between the switch. That may be the cause of this problem too :-?

No gcc updates. It's a Fedora 17 box, so there's been hardly any updates this
last week or so as things have been frozen leading into the release.

Thanks for verifying. I'm thinking this is a build bug. Something's not
cleaning up properly. It may be with the recordmcount code. Perhaps
objects needed to change where the mcount calls are and did not?

I'll try other things to see if I can trigger this again. Then I'll save
off the build tree, do a make clean, rebuild, and compare what's
different.

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Steven, All,

On Tuesday 22 May 2012 23:19:41 Steven Rostedt wrote:

It's exactly the same.

The kconfig-frontends package is created by extracting the needed files from
the linux kernel. So, kconfig-diff is exactly scripts/diffconfig. Also, it's
what the line just above says: "added _from_ the Linux kernel tree" ;-)

But the kconfig toolss in the linux tree are not using a common naming
scheme. For example we have:
    scripts/config
    scripts/diffconfig
    scripts/kconfig/merge_config.sh
    scripts/kconfig/kxgettext
    scripts/kconfig/conf
    scripts/kconfig/mconf

So, kconfig-frontends tries to use a meaningful naming scheme for all the
programs it installs. Some are renamed, and they all get prefixed by default
with 'kconfig-' (although that can be overriden at ./configure time with
--program-prefix=...).

In the package, the file scripts/kernel2kfrontends.list has the
correspondence for what comes from the linux tree, and how it's named in
the kconfig-frontends tree. For example, we have:
    scripts/config --&amp;gt; utils/tweak
    scripts/diffconfig --&amp;gt; utils/diff
    scripts/kconfig/merge_config.sh --&amp;gt; utils/merge
    scripts/kconfig/kxgettext.c --&amp;gt; utils/gettext.c

The script scripts/ksync.sh (in kconfig-frontends) uses that file to
automatically sync from a linux tree.

There is virtually zero code written in the package (except for a few patches
required for the packaging), so the behavior is exactly the same as if using
the corresponding kconfig tools from the kernel.

Please note, however, that this is only the second release of
kconfig-frontends, and that things can still be improved upon! ;-)

Yann E. MORIN.

    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kbuild.devel/8277</link>
    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hello All!

I'm pleased to announce the release of kconfig-frontends 3.4.0-0!
Go download it there:
    http://ymorin.is-a-geek.org/download/kconfig-frontends/kconfig-frontends-3.4.0-0.tar.xz
    http://ymorin.is-a-geek.org/download/kconfig-frontends/kconfig-frontends-3.4.0-0.tar.bz2

The kconfig-frontends package provides the kconfig parser, as well as all the
kconfig frontends and utilities, packaged using the traditional autotools, so
the kconfig infrastructure is easy to deploy, either locally or system-wide.

What's new since 3.3.0-0:
  - all programs are intalled with the 'kconfig-' prefix by default
  - the kconfig documentation has been added
  - the parser's headers are isntalled into their own sub-dir
  - some side utilities have been added from the Linux kernel tree:
    - kconfig-diff show differences between two .config files
    - kconfig-gettext prepare catalog of options strings for L10n
    - kconfig-merge merge .config fragments
    - kconfig-tweak get and set .config optiond from the command line

Thank you to Arnout Vandecappelle and Peter Kjellerstedt for their patches in
this release cycle. :-)

As a reminder, the home for kconfig-frontends is:
  http://ymorin.is-a-geek.org/projects/kconfig-frontends

And the repository can be browsed or hg-cloned from:
  http://ymorin.is-a-geek.org/hg/kconfig-frontends

kconfig-frontends is not meant to replace the in-tree Linux kconfig, but
really targets third-party projects that want an easy path to following the
evolution of kconfig, without the burden to manually synchronise from the
Linux kernel source tree.

Any comment, any feedback, any patch is welcome! ;-)

Regards,
Yann E. MORIN.

You are editing a changelog entry from time when xz did not exist. Why
don't you instead add a note to the usage examples at the beginning of
the script, that several compression formats are supported.

BTW, are you actually *using* this script? Wow, that would be two
confirmed users in this calendar year alone :).

Subject: [PATCH] builddeb: include autogenerated header files

After 303395ac3bf3e2cb488435537d416bc840438fcb, some headers are autogenerated.
Include these autogenerated headers (mainly unistd_32_ia32.h) in out-of-tree
builds to allow DKMS modules to be built succesfully.

Hi Michal.

We are too close to the merge window to
apply patch 5-8.

I plan to resubmit them around -rc2 time,
then we should have time for review
and test.

Any comments until then are of course welcome,
but I expect you to wait until next submission.
