Kino-1.3.4 Not working Properly

<pre>Hi,
I have been using Kino for quite some time now. Recently I have found the
following problems with it:

1. In the 'Eport' portion, the 'MPEG" tab is non-functional- it is
completely dimmed.
2. An imported clip does not play properly in the Preview Window - it just
runs away to the end without any sound.

I have been to google, all over various websites including openSUSE, with
which I work on my laptop. Very many people, on various websites, have the
same problems as I but, to-date, no solutions have been forthcoming.

Could anyone help please?

Thanks &amp; Regards

Can Kino capture HD

<pre>Hello Dan,

I am Mettavihari from Sri Lanka,
You may not remember me but I have been using your kino and was on the kino
list some years ago.
I have been using Kino in combination with Cinelerra for all my video work
over the past 6-8 years,
(approx 1000 hours of finished video per year.) for my 2 television
channels.

I am now planing to start a separate channel in HD and have gotten cameras
and mixers to handle that part.
In the past HD was not possible in Kino &amp; Cinelerra but the situation may
now be different.

It now looks like dvgrab and Cinelerra can handle HD.
Does this also mean that Kino can capture HD.

Please send me a few of your recommendation for my HD production.
I need to produce about 1000 hours in 2013 for this channel,
which will be consisting of News, and Documentaries.

Thank you for all the support you have given to Kino and Cinelerra over the
past years.

Regards
Mettavihari

<pre>Try launching kino from the command line and specifying the files that way.

For example, if your dv files in are /my/dv/files and are named with a
.dv extension, do this:

1: run a terminal

2: type cd /my/dv/files and press enter
then type kino *.dv and press enter

Is there a way to bulk import a bunch of DV files into Kino?

I would use it to just make a linear one DVD of my numerous miniDVD

Because of, 'til now, I already have about 20 miniDVD that are "fated"

do you think Kino is the right tool?

are devices that will transcode the dv stream into mpeg and send that

Wow, that is a DVCPRO-HD camera! That is rather high end for the Linux
video editing crowd. So, you can not expect many people to be in a
position to help out. This camera uses the P2 SD card system; it seems
like you should be able to mount the camera as a hard drive over USB
and simply copy the video files from it. Then, I think you should be
able to edit the video with programs such as Kdenlive, OpenShot,
Flowblade, or PiTiVi.

ah, good point. I was not assuming it was a mini-DV camcorder, but
perhaps the reason you are here is precisely because it is. In that
case, we should let you (Davide) know that 99% of all mini-DV
camcorders have USB, but the video is actually not available through
the USB - only the still photos are.

This, or even 9000, does not change behavior of my Canon MV5i.

firewire-ohci's debug logging only shows complete transactions going back
and forth, AFAICT (outgoing write transactions to FCP_REQUEST, incoming
write transactions to FCP_RESPONSE; both are split transactions and block
writes or quadlet writes). Seems like this needs to be debugged at the
AV/C level. The gscanbus crashes let me suspect that the camcorder sends
malformed FCP frames.
