[porting-mac] Re: Aqua on Apple PowerPC

<pre>Hi Peter,

this is a well known Problem with the old outdated X11 version of
OOo running under Mac OS X 10.5.x. Since we have an aqua native
version of OOo 3.x for both PowerPC and Intel we decided to not fix
problems in the X11 Port of OOo for Mac any longer.

You can download the Aqua native version of OOo from
&lt;http://download.openoffice.org/&gt; If you're using one of the more
recent browser like Firefox 3.x or 4.x, Safari, Chrome etc the site
behind the link will most likely figure out which language and
operating system you are running and give you a link for the 3.2.1
PowerPc native version.

The latest 3.3.0 isn't QA tested and therefore you can only
download the latest release candidate from here
&lt;http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/macosppc/3.3.0rc10_20110119&gt;.
You will find lot's of languages in this folder, so you can
download whichever you like to.

Hope this helps,
Eric

If the issues was introduced in 3.2.0 and a regression from 3.1.0
it should have been a showstopper for 3.2.0 and if not been fixed

This is a regression from OOo 3.1 but it has a Target milestone of OOo 3.4. I thought that
regressions should be showstoppers, but apparently they are not.

The behaviour is different in OOo 3.2 and OOo 3.2. See my description in the bug report I made
that has been closed as a duplicate. http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=116063

I just experienced the problem to get pyuno working on Mac OS X 10.6,
too. At least for me (trying to run the tests in
testtools/source/bridgetest/pyuno/), it clearly is a problem of system
python being executed as 64 bit, while OOo's pyuno.so is 32 bit (see below).

Christian, did you already file an issue to use internal python on Mac
(which apparently is the outcome of this thread)?

misleading, so I'd like to add/clarify on that:

All the official PPC releases come from ooopackges.good-day.net (Maho
prepares them and uploads them to the good-day.net server)

A release will be released as "official release" once a corresponding
QA-Team did approve it. (native-language projects run the tests and
then approve it (or not if there are serious problems with the build).
When it is approved, the RC (release candidate) from good-day.net is
simply renamed and pushed to the main mirror network.
(This process is the same for other builds as well, the RC that is
approved is renamed and then put on the main mirror network) The thing
with PPC is just that other builds are provided by Sun/Oracle and they
do QA for en-US, thus en-US version for other operating systems is
immediately released/available, while the other languages have to be
approved by the corresponding native-lang teams first (that sometimes
leads to delays for some languages/operating systems. Especially Mac
for PPC version lacks testers/feedback, so Mac/PPC version is always
amongst the last to be approved/amongst those who will always stick
with RC status just because nobody did test and approve that specific
version)
