AFAIK, yes, at least as far as availability at Oracle/Kenai is 
concerned. The whole site is going away, lock, stock, and barrel.

You might check with markmail.org. They have been mentioned as archiving 
some of the lists. I will inquire further on the Apache list, and post

To all my friends and colleagues on these documentation lists:

Effective March 15th, all OO.o email addresses and lists are going away. 
That includes these two < at >documentation lists, of which I am a co-owner 
and moderator.

If you are using an < at >openoffice.org address anywhere (wiki, Bugzilla, 
Apache lists, forums, ...), then you need to change it there. The 
current email forwarding will be discontinued.

The best way to keep up with documentation matters is through the 
ODFAuthors site and ML's. The Apache podling does not yet have a 
separate list for documentation; if and when it does, I will pass the 
word on odfauthors-discuss.

Is your intent to switch between languages in the same document (a bit 
of this language, a bit of that language, etc...). If yes, then you may 
want to create a paragraph style for the different purposes in each 
language. That may be the easiest way to go for that. If you know that 
you want the entire document to be in a specific language, that may 
change things a bit. For me, I would probably then write a macro that 
changed the selected area to be some language. (then again, if all you 
know is macros, then you use them to solve everything).

I am not certain that I fully understand your problem, so my advice is 
probably wrong.

Hi,

First, you needn't worry about your "registered" username. Just pick one 
you like, and register anew on forum(s) and/or mailing list(s). It's a 
good idea to use the same name everywhere, so others know whom they're 
conversing with. Unfortunately, there is no provision for a "universal 
login"; each account is separate.

Second, the forums are addressable as they previously were, but with our 
big move to Apache, the mailing lists have changed. For instance, this 
particular list will be going away in the near future. You may wish to 
subscribe to the following:

ooo-announce-subscribe-d1GL8uUpDdXTxqt0kkDzDmD2FQJk+8+b< at >public.gmane.org
ooo-users-subscribe-d1GL8uUpDdXTxqt0kkDzDmD2FQJk+8+b< at >public.gmane.org

1) Send an email, with "Subscribe" in the subject and in the body. (This 
keeps your email from being caught in spam filters.)

2) Wait a few minutes and then check your inbox for a confirmation email.

3) Respond to the confirmation email (see above precautions).

Which forum are you not able to access?

If you are not able to access oooforum.org, then send me a direct email 
with a guess as to your username. I am able to search the OOoForum for 
user-names but not for an email address. Also, if you have ever posted 
to the forum, you may be able to find an old post and determine your 
username from an older post. Note that if you have posted, you can use a 
wild-card search to try and find the post that you made based on a 
username. For example, I went here: 
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/search.phtml and entered *whyte* as the 
username.

I did this at the forum and checked about 8 usernames that matched and 
none of them were you..... Sadly, at that forum I am not able to find a 
user based on an email address.

If your issue is at this forum

http://user.services.openoffice.org/

Then I can send you an email address to try for that forum (unless a 
moderator or admin from that forum sees this and chimes in). User reply 
all so that your message is sent to the list.

You really want to send questions like this to the ooo-users ML, at our 
new home with Apache. This particular list (dev-doc) is about developing 
OO.o documentation.

To give you a quick answer, what format you save as depends on what 
software you will be loading with. OO.o runs on WXP and W7; if it's 
available, you could just stick with ODT. If you have to cope with MS 
Word, you will probably want either DOC or DOCX formats, depending on 
the Word version.

Be aware that fancy formatting (such as you might use in a newsletter) 
may not convert exactly the way you want. Inspect your output closely.

they're asking, OK, I heard about this new software, what do I need to do,
to be able to use it? A collection of the most important differences would
be really useful.

My name is Maxwell Rebo, and I'm an independent artificial intelligence
developer currently working with Hanson Robotics.

Open Office got me through college, and now it gets my development team
through an average day.  We couldn't work without it.  (I also wrote my
first novel with Open Office!)

Someday soon I'd like to donate resources, but until then I can offer my
help with documentation.  I'm a proficient Linux and Windows user, and so I
