<pre>Hi,

We are looking for options to integrate MMS feature with our enter prise
application. As part of this, users should be able to take pictures and
send to us as MMS.

For this use case, we were exploring "MBuni" to see if it meets our needs.

for service/content providers rather that such enterprise applications.

Wanted to check with user community on what will be good way to integrate
or expect incoming MMS.

Any inputs are much appreciated.

Thanks,
-Rajesh

Is it possible?

<pre>Hey guys,

First thanks for the information. The site has been really helpful. I am
completely new to MMS (and all things SMS, VoIP, etc) so I am grateful for
all the information so far.

I have a number setup through Google Voice. Which has zero MMS support. I
have all my SMS and Voice and Voicemail going through them right now.

I was wondering if it is possible to setup my own MMSC and supplement the
lack of MMS support from Google. I am not sure what lines are drawn where.

To give you an idea of what I have setup, and would like to support is as
follows:

I have a phone with Simple Mobile (a T-mobile MVNO) a 385 number. My number
is ported to Google Voice (a 801 number). So when someone calls me (801) it
goes to GV and then is redirected to my (385) cell phone. In theory it
could go elsewhere as well. SMS also goes directly to GV and then I use
their app to retrieve messages. MMS just fails. I get no notifications etc.

Is it possible to have voice and voicemail handled through GV and setup my
own MMSC to handle SMS and MMS? Do I have to handle the entire suite (VoIP,
DID, SIP, SMS, MMS)?

Thanks!

Adam

OK, Thanks. I’ll check. One more question, do we need to configure something on kannel side like bearbox / smsbox / wapbox to make mmsbox working?

1. Only mmsbox.
2. You need only configure the mmsc and mms-service group as a start

&gt; I haven't had much success getting mbuni working yet and was hoping someone could provide some help.

A *very* long shot Peter, I had all sorts of SSL trouble trying to compile Mbuni on Ubuntu, so when I did an install on a clean machine I used OpenSuse 12.1 (which I believe is the OS used for development) and the problems went away. (I used the SSL that came with the distribution).

If you are doing a clean install, it might be worth a try.

I followed the installation instruction and all seems fine.

mmsc starts and so does mmsbox.

But the command mmsproxy is not installed.

If i issue the mmsproxy command it says command not found.

When i redid the installation, mmsproxy is still not installed along with mmsrelay.

Kannel and mbuni are installed on an Ubuntu Virtual Machine.

any ideas?

<pre>After getting my setup mostly working I had one annoying problem - non - ascii characters in text files (e. g. '£') referenced by the smil file were not displaying correctly on the phone.

My application was writing the text to text files in a directory of an Apache web server. The smil file referenced the text file via http.

I checked my application was writing valid UTF-8 text files.

The problem appears to be that the web server is just serving the files as 'Content-Type: text/plain'.

Adding an .htaccess file to the appropriate directory on the web server to serve the text files as 'Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8' appears to have fixed the problem.

On turning off eth0, the problem now shifts to reaching the network. Starting the network with pon and then accessing the mmsc with a web browser with the proxy set appropriately works.

Mbuni frequently, but not always, fails to connect.

Hello,

I have a partially working mmsbox setup. I am trying to send MMS messages via a mobile phone using the 'custom' mmsc type in mbuni.

Occasionally, it works. Mostly, however, the connection to the service provider mmsc fails.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Regards,

Pete.

On turning off eth0, the problem now shifts to reaching the network. Starting the network with pon and then accessing the mmsc with a web browser with the proxy set appropriately works.

Mbuni frequently, but not always, fails to connect.
