I've installed samba4 on debian 7 like its described here: http://sector7e.com/setup-a-samba4-domain-controller-on-debian-6-0-squeeze/
with the same provision like in the example.
how can I now find out, which "tree suffix" and which "list of valid users" I have to enter at the LAM configuration?

my assumption was
tree suffix: dc=test,dc=local

list of valid users: cn=Administrator,dc=test,dc=local

but which password do I have to enter for the login then?

thx for your kind answers :)

For the rest of attributes you can enter your own friendly names. The

#uid;#givenName;#sn;#physicalDeliveryOfficeName;#ou;#title;#employeeType;#uidNumber;#gidNumber

In table 3.1 LDAP attribute mappings on
https://www.ldap-account-manager.org/static/doc/manual/ch03.html it
seems that attribute names are supposed to be shown with more friendly
names, like Office Name for like physicalDeliveryOfficeName etc, but
when I see the list of users, the added attributes show up with the
attribute name. (While the old ones have the friendly name).

If I select a user I see the friendly names in the page. Is there
anything I'm can (or are supposed to) do in order to get this to work in
the list view too?

Since Lam 4.1 i use Samba Unix Id pool for automatic UID/GID generation.
This works well with new user or new group, but there is a problem for new

I have a message "ID-Number : Please enter a value between 0 and 0 !"
In server profiles/Module settings, Samba ID pool DN hosts is however the
same that Samba ID pool DN Users or Groups (Unix)
what's happening ?
Thanks,

Hi Terje,

the behaviour is ok. The tree view is not connected to the account
types (entering no value will disable it). So you need to enter the
LDAP suffixes for each account type.

Best regards

Roland

What exactly should I check and why?

I have these schemas included (though the samba.schema is not in a
separate dir)

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;I'm testing LAM Pro 4.1

I create a server profile, fill in the Server address and the Tree
suffix which in my case is in the form o=TestCompany.

When I try to log in to the server with that profile I get

The following suffixes are missing in LDAP. LAM can create them for you.
ou=People,dc=my-domain,dc=com
ou=group,dc=my-domain,dc=com
ou=machines,dc=my-domain,dc=com
dc=my-domain,dc=com

Adding this will fail, and If I cancel, I will get messages like this
when I do stuff.

LDAP search failed! Please check your preferences.
No such object

If I browse the tree in LAM it actually shows what I expect.

Diggin into it I see that in the profile config file there are entries
types: suffix_user: ou=People,dc=my-domain,dc=com etc (for People,
group, machines, smbDomain)
Editing the suffix there seems to fix the problem.

Is this a bug? I think I went through all steps.
