Help with Documentation for Vinolia I Release

Hey all,

We're getting closer to our Vinolia I release and want to try to be ahead
of the curve in writing out our documentation updates to support the new
features.

I've created a task in JIRA along witih sub-tasks outlining the main areas
in the user manual and wiki that need to be updated to reflect new
functionality:

http://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOS-5597

It's also tracked in this project page:
http://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/projects/Update+Mifos+User+Manual+for+Mifos+2.4

If you're interested in helping out with some of the tasks - our
documentation team consisting of Bharathi and Natalia would love your help.

Special thanks to Natalia who lead the majority of updates to documentation
for the Mifos 2.3 release <http://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOS-5459>.

Re: Feature for Release H: MIFOS-5187 Integration with KopoKopo M-PESA integration interface

Hi,

I have worked on http://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOS-5187 and I have
finished implementation for loan payments and savings deposits. Code is
already in master branch.

Mifos integration URL is "/basic/k2/processTransaction.json" and it use
basic http authentication, so You must provide login credentials.
Example of full URL:
http://mifos:testmifos< at >localhost:8080/mifos/basic/k2/processTransaction.json
(standard credentials works for both basic and form authentication)

For now, only important parameters are: k2_transaction_id, ac_no,
currency, amount, mm_system_id, transaction_date.
Based on guides provided by KopoKopo
<http://mifosforge.jira.com/secure/attachment/15890/HTTP+POST+Notification+-+28+October+2011.pdf>(HTTP
POST Notification ticket attachment) I've decided to match operations by
"ac_no" parameter. Ac_no is matched as global account number, so if
ac_no contains global account number of loan account then mifos process
loan payment transaction, if savings account then savings deposit
transaction.
Other parameters:
- mm_system_id (mobile money system id) stands for payment type name,
for example "M-PESA"
- transaction_date pattern is DD/M/YY.
- k2_transaction_id is used as receiptId for mifos transaction processing
- amount is just the transaction amount
- currency should be valid account currency 3 letter Alphabetical code
(example 'INR' or 'USD')

Mifos KopoKopo integration URL can be easily tested with "curl" program
(example in ticket attachments from KopoKopo) or with browser with any
REST plugin installed.

I'm looking forward for any comments and suggestions.

Best regards,
Michał Dudziński

Jakub,

As far as I can remember , we completed the Written Off report for the Mifos 1.2 release. The client status report was not completed in time for Mifos 1.2 and hence was to be included in Mifos 1.3. Kay and others had reviewed this report functionally but I think somewhere in the Grameen transition, this report was not included in Mifos 1.3. However SunGard had completed the testing and development of report.

Hence I think it should be included in the next Mifos 1.3.1 version.

Thanks
Chetan

Subject: [Mifos-developer] Sungard reports in the Mifos BI release

Hi,

during preparation of the MIFOS BI 1.3.1 version I encountered a small inconsistency with treating contributed reports. Sungard contributed two
reports: Written Off and Client Status. Our official releases do not contain Client Status report, but contain Written Off one.

Do we have any official policy regarding including these contributed reports in the Mifos BI package? Should I add Client Status report to Mifos BI 1.3.1, or maybe I should remove Written Off report from it?

Regards,
 Jakub.

1. Are you using your local Mifos instance or demo server?
2. Is there any error message while you trying to generate the report?
If yes, could you paste it and send to me?

Regards,

Hi Jakub,

The increase in the memory settings did not help. We now want to try the upgrade by

1. Using the JVM monitoring tool to monitor the memory usage.
2. Modifying the server setup such that we now have 2 separate servers - one for the Database and one for application.

Currently GK is working on setting up the infrastructure so that we can then retry the upgrade.

Thanks
Chetan

Hi,

any news on upgrading GK? Have you tried the increased memory settings?

Hi Adam, Keith -

Thank you for the clarification, both - that does indeed help on the
handful of questions I had. Very glad I posted.

I'll follow your advice re: the commits, and trust that Ed will be along
at some point if he wants something formal from me on the Contributor
Agreement front then.

Cheers,
Sarah.

Contributor agreements (especially copyright assignment) was pretty
important when I was working on Mifos regularly, but things may have
changed. I've Cc'd Ed Cable, he's the one to talk with about that now.
In my humble opinion, it shouldn't block patch review/acceptance, but it
still needs to be filled out.

Sarah,

I think in general its best that a commit is as small as possible but
should be complete. If its a bug fix it should be everything thats
need to fix the bug. If its a feature, theres likely to be more work
but should still be all committed together. In either case its
possible you 'committed' serveral times in your forked or local
reposistory. If you work in a branch its possible to squash all these
commits into one before merging into your version of master that you
would do a pull request from.

I am not sure if notifications are set up to notify people that pull
requests have been sent. Clearly JIRA is one way of getting peoples
attention, or email or skype/irc.

Keith.
