Jeff,

I think sometimes cargo has a problem expanding the zip file. I am not
sure why - I have seen this before, once when my tomcat.zip file was
corrupt. Then I just replaced the corrupt file, and everything worked.
The other time, I just re-ran the build, and everything worked.

Note that things will be more reliable if you copy the tomcat.zip file
to a local location as described under the settings.xml section here:
http://www.mifos.org/developers/wiki/CheetahMavenBuild

Or have you already done this?

I just used the "-up" switch in maven and don't see this error
currently. Still curious if others have encountered that error
before.

I've updated to revision 14157 and I'm now getting other compile
errors. I believe the issue is that my environment can't find class
UiTestCaseBase. I'd appreciate any pointers...

Thanks,

Jeff

Subject: error expanding tomcat with gazelle

Hi there,

I've set up a new environment for gazelle on my system, and when I do
"mvn clean install" I get the following failure:

[INFO]
------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ERROR] FATAL ERROR

[INFO]

The tomcat located in this location is 4808 KB. I'm assuming
something happened when Maven downloaded this artifact? Has anyone
else encountered this? Does this come from my local repository? If
so, any tips on what I should do to get around this issue?

Thanks,

Jeff

    <description>Viswanath,
You are correct, this indeed is not a bug. While testing issue 2188, I
thought I was seeing a new problem, but according to the Selenium script
attached to the issue, I incorrectly modified the client's "trained"
checkbox instead. I'll mark it closed in the issue tracker.

In regards to your question (3). This section is not new to 1.2, but
there were functional issues as noted in issue 2188 that have been fixed
in version 1.2.

Thank you for investigating the issue and responding with clear and
concise observations!

Regards,
Jeff

Subject: [Mifos-developer] [Issue 2192] Trained field for groups not
hidden

Hi,

I was looking into issue# 2192
(https://mifos.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2192) which is
regarding hiding the field "Trained" while creating groups. The
following are my observations.

1. The functionality is working fine in the mifos test server
(probably running 1.2 or later version).

2. The issue description says that the user selected the checkbox in
the "Client/system users fields" section. But should it not be
selected in the "Group fields" section?

3. Is "Group Field" section new to 1.2? Or was it available in 1.1 as
well? If not, then I'm assuming user has no means to disable "Trained"
for groups in 1.1.

I think we can safely close this bug as it seems to have been fixed in
the latest version. Please let me know if my assumption is incorrect.

Thanks,
Viswanath

I am working on Issue #2081 which deals with the LoginAction class
(logout) and the resource bundle (french). I am done with my tests, as
follows:

1. Deploying mifos.war with Tomcat
2. Junit Test LoginTestSuite

Nevertheless my obervation shows that there is an issue with
LoanTestSuite, when everything else is commented out in
ApplicationTestSuite.

My plan for this mail is to get somebody's help who knows the
"accounts.loan" packages (e.g. class
"org.mifos.application.accounts.loan.business.TestLoanBO") better than
I do.

See attachment.

Ryan,

I'm not entirely certain I agree with the statement you made above. I do think it's valid for Garry to calculate the running balance himself if he cannot get this information from the online transaction processing (OLTP) tables in the Mifos DB based on SECDEP's business logic, or if querying for this from the OLTP tables is too slow to produce a report in a reasonable amount of time. However, I would not argue that it should be general practice to calculate values for reporting purposes in the report itself versus using the values that may already exist in the DB. I think we should assume that the values in the DB are accurate and use these for reporting purposes whenever possible to ensure consistency between the values in the application and the reports. If there is an inaccuracy/bug in the data in the DB, we should fix those issues as we encounter them so that the reports and application are accurate.

Anyway, that's just my recommendation for how to approach data generated for reporting purposes. Not sure if others will agree or not.

Thanks,

Aliya

    <description>Hi,
I was checking out Mifos Cheetah via Maven (using instructions at
http://mifos.org/developers/wiki/CheetahDeveloperSetup), and the
checkout failed saying selenium-driver jar could not be found at the
below ibiblio mirror:
http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/maven2//org/openqa/selenium/client-drivers/selenium-java-client-river/1.0-SNAPSHOT/selenium-java-client-driver-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar

A glance at the page
http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/maven2//org/openqa/selenium/
shows just one folder named "grid". I grepped for the .pom files which
had this string and replaced the selenium version with 1.0-beta-1

I found the selenium-java-client-driver-1.0-beta-1.jar at
http://archiva.openqa.org/repository/releases/org/openqa/selenium/client-drivers/selenium-java-client-driver/1.0-beta-1/

Maven gave an error message saying I could install this file using mvn
install --file=/path/to/file ...or something like that. That seemed to
do the trick.

I am totally new to Maven, so I might have missed something :)

Thanks,
Viswanath

<title>[Issue 2200] Savings Account Interest Posting -"null" in PostedBy column</title>
    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.finance.mifos.devel/5690</link>
    <description>Hi,

I've been looking at issue#2200
(https://mifos.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2200) that is
regarding the interest post by the batch job to a Savings Account that
contains "null" in the "Posted By" column. The comments on that issue
say that the value of the column should say "system" and it should be
localized.

But when I looked at the interest postings made to Loan Accounts on
the mifos test server, I saw the value "Mifos MFI (DO NOT CHANGE THIS
USER ACCOUNT") in the "PostedBy" column. This I think is the display
name of personnel with personnel_id=1 (In this case mifos). I've
attached a screenshot of the same.

Shouldn't we doing the same for Savings Account postings as well? If
so, I could help fix the issue.

Thanks and Regards,
Viswanath

It's probably from the Offsetting feature, which was never fully
implemented:

Nagananda,

Hi, I'm a developer at Mifos. This column appears to be unused in the
software - in the Account business object it is set to 1, but I can't
find anywhere else in the code that sets it to any other value. It may
have been left over from something that was never implemented.

Do you have a problem related to this column? Can you say more about
why you are looking into this?

cheers
adam

<description>A mobile edition of Mifos is certainly going to be a great idea. I am a Consultant to Grameen Foundation and currently working with some MFIs in Northern Ghana. I know this is a product whose time is here and I can contribute in the areas of systems analysis and design by working with Gbolahan and Viswanath and other. Perhaps we can even integrate it with the card and swithch project Grameen Foundation is pilot testing with one MFI in Ghana.

Regards and looking forward to working with you all.
