Anyone want to take care of our Facebook page?
If not, does anyone mind if I get rid of it?
The page only has 77 likes, which is a far cry from the 2157 +1's we get on
Google+.
Given this number, I'd rather focus on our Google+ and Diaspora pages,
which are more in line with our freedom philosophy (Diaspora much more than
Google+, of course).

<pre> Hi Embar,
The Tango theme is the most complete icon theme and it's most in line with
OS defaults (Mac OS, Windows, most GTK-based desktops). Tango's goal is to
provide a consistent icon look across various platforms, while Oxygen is
specifically designed for KDE and often feels out-of-place on other
platforms, which is why it's preferable to keep it default only on KDE.

It's true our current icons look outdated. That's not a fault of the Tango
specifications -- Gnome and elementary have been able to produce beautiful
modern icons based on those specs.
We were planning to update our icons as well based on Gnome's icon set,
but, unfortunately, the volunteer who lead the project doesn't have time
for it anymore. The project is at
https://github.com/libodesign/tango-testing. If you'd be interested in
picking it up, that'd be great.

There's also an effort to produce a flat monochrome icon set, which is lead
by Issa Alkurtass: https://github.com/libodesign/flat-icons. That one's
being actively worked on, but it has a long way to go before it has all the
icons that the Gnome icon theme has.

After installation, we see old Tango icon theme
(for example, in LibreOffice Portable).
We could have a bit more modern like view just
by using Oxygen icon theme (maybe in LO 4.1).

I created a proposal in

Btw, Issa has now integrated the new flat icons into master. So, if you
build from master now, you can actually try the theme. So far, it has
not crept into a lot of nightly builds, but if you are on a SUSE
platform you might be able to try the SLED build (from folder
Linux-x86-64&lt; at &gt;8-SLED11/Linux-x86-64&lt; at &gt;8-SLED11/).
It should be in all nightlies from tomorrow.

Thanks for the proposal.
In general, to me it looks good, nice balanced.. Still I have the same
idea as Mirek, that Heading1 and Heading2 are a bit high. E.g. 20 and 18
would be fine too. But that only is my personal opinion.
For the styles heading 6-10, differentiating between them with the fonts
is not so useful. In general, I expect that it will be more that
indent/numbering will be the visual difference.

But for sure it's an improvement over the current style.
Do you know if there are plans to provide more default templates?

Kind regards,
Cor

<pre>Hi all,

you might know, there is a QA contest for 4.1 coming up. To promote the
contest, it'd be great to have a banner to advertise it.
All the details on the contest are/should be here:

 https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Projects/Bug_Triage_Contest

There's a proposal for the banner text from Joel:
"LibreOffice invites you to participate in our 4.1 RC Bug Confirmation
(triage) Contest taking place from June 20th - July 5th - For Details:
 https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Projects/Bug_Triage_Contest"

But I don't think this is set in stone, if something shorter works, I
guess that's fine. It might also be a good idea to mention you can win
shirts.
The preferred file format, as always is SVG, so we can export it to PNG.
It would be best to have two banner sizes:
* one for the LibreOffice main page, in the top (400*58px)
* one for the LibreOffice pre-releases (890px*70px – feel free to tweak
the height of this one) (I've also thought about if we can maybe use
HTML + CSS + web fonts, to create a more responsive banner, but I'm
not sure if we can actually use this.)

Deadline would be on 20th, so in four days. Don't feel pressured by
that. :)

Stefan.

It "works for me"! I wanted to avoid joining it to the message but here it
is.

[DISCUSS] Proposal to improve style workflow in writer

<pre>Hi,

I have been an irregular user of LibreOffice since the old staroffice days,
but also a LaTeX user for longer texts. I would like to share some ideas on
realistic improvements for people who want to use styles exclusively.

My main gripe with the current GUI is that everything encourages ad-hoc
formatting instead of reusing styling. I feel that the use of style should
not require using the crowded style dialogs more than ad-hoc formatting. To
address this, I propose two main changes: a "style toolbar" to replace the
formatting toolbar, and a redesign of the stylist to let us edit common
properties from the stylist directly (along with some other changes). Some
of the proposed things may not be easy to implement now, but I feel that a
partial implementation would not be problematic and would greatly improve
my workflow in LibreOffice.

I'm also a newcomer to this mailing list or to design work, thus let me
know if I'm doing this wrong!
Should I open an enhancement request instead of (or in addition to) using
the mailing list?

You can find a mockup here:

Excuse my poor artistic skills!

PS: I'm willing to contribute code if there is interest in this kind of
changes, but would need some guidance.

Best.
