I have uploaded a new version of the USLtr General Information
brochure[1]. It now has the right font and the hyphenation has been
re-done.

It can be used as is, but, Jean and I have found that our printers print
the section breaks that are made up of tildes "≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈" differently;
some print with gaps between the tildes some not.

I have left a note on the design list to see if they could come up with
a graphic to replace the tildes. Once we come up with a graphic design,
I'll update the brochure with it.

Otherwise, it is done. I will just wait to see how long it will take to
get the graphic from the design team and then announce if on the
Projects list.

The only last thing to do are:

* complete the A4 version (Jean and I can help complete this)
* do up the .pdf versions of the brochures (I'll make up the set of .pdf
versions)

We then need to move on to the "Community Brochure" which is needed by
Jean for the next conference. Some of you may want to help work on it by
visiting the workspace page.

Cheers,

Marc

The Gallery Page for Flyers/Fliers and Brochures

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Gallery_Flyers

has been edited to reflect the new "General Information - Community"
version of the brochures.

Letter - .odt and .pdf - "completed?"
A4 - .odt - "work in progress?"

I thank all of the people that has help in this effort.
I hope that the A4 version will be "completed" soon.

Once done, that is one more good marketing material/handout that our
English users can have access to for their marketing needs.

I do hope that the other brochures, maybe not the official one, will be
placed on this gallery page for users to have easy access to.

I know that I had "re-started" this brochure project, due to my real
needs. Then Marc and Tom got on board. Then others like Jean came to
help as well. The more people we have to do this, the more ideal are
available and the better these marketing materials will be. I really
wish we, as a group, would have taken on this task during the first year
of LibreOffice. But writing the first manuals and books were a priority
and so other projects fell by the way side.

So thanks again everyone.

I will do my best to spread the LibreOffice message to my local community.

Now I just need to figure out some good intro letters to go along with
LO 4.0.x when I visit my local governments and community centers,
again. Many of these places have new "management" so it will be new to
them.

I want at least 1,000 of the Love stickers (110x25) for OSCON, to be shipped to an address in the USA. I'll need them by 19 July. So I hope we can get a budget for them. I'll want more for other conferences starting in January next year, so perhaps 2,000 and I'll take some home with me after OSCON. They were very popular at SCALE this year.

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi,

(One of the longer standing items...)

Since producing stickers central and then shipping is most
cost-effective, and having some experience, I volunteer to order some
kinds of stickers.

We have/had two kinds:
   a. normal logo [1]        (110 X 35 mm)
   b. the love-variant [2]   (110 X 25 mm)

I noticed at booths / sticker hand-outs that people also look for
smaller sizes. For - let me call it - guerilla-stickering ;)

So I propose to do also do sizes 60 x 20 / 60 x 14
(approximately - didn't check this with a printer.)

If we a sort of agree, I can ask for the budget.

Opinions?
Maybe - when we work on it anyways - there's an addition design that we
can order for :-)

Cheers,
Cor

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi,

You know social media is a very effective channel for getting people's
attention. Also it can be used a regular reminder/ping'er/poke'r for
communities.

So using the social media's advantages to increase the community's
attention on Ask.LibreOffice.org site and Bugzilla will be good imho.

We had used this method in Pardus GNU/Linux and it worked. After
asking to Florian for his advice that if is this possible to use this
channels for LibreOffice, i've creaed two twitter accounts.

The new accounts are:

LibreOffice Bugzilla:
https://twitter.com/LibreOfficeBugs

Ask.LibreOffice.org:
https://twitter.com/AskLibreOffice

I've connected ask site's new question feeds and bugzilla's new bug's
feeds to this accounts.

The goals of having this accounts are:

· To keep more attention on questions and bugs

· Make community contribution process more social

· To poke/ ping community’s members and asking for the minimum
contribution that can give constantly

· Spread the questions and bugs to their networks to find answers as
soon as possible which will increase the possibility find the person
whom has the answer

· Make our ask and bugzilla more open to the community and increase
the number of persons(not regular contributors)

Well, there is also reasons under the “What current situation misses” questions

· Having lots of bugzilla mails is not for ordinary community members,
people does not want their inbox is filled with bug mails which most
of them are not in interested. But twitter streams are different, it
comes and passes through no rubbish left there. Trying to confirm a
bug is generally a simple work to do, we can involve more people(other
than the regular bugbusters) to have with this feeds.

· Visiting ask site is not a practical exercise made every time, or
getting feeds from Google Reader is not practiced by everyone, but
most people use social media actively. This means more eyes will be on
ask and bug sites constantly.

· As said above, having constant attention for this sites are not
possible for passive contributors

· There is no chance to spread the questions through LibreOffice
related networks. But with this accounts, the followers will generate
a core LibreOffice network which will be feed through this accounts.

I hope that this accounts will help to decrease the unanswered
questions in the ask site(1.191 questions ~1/3 ) and activate more
members to help triage bugs in bugzilla.

If you have a twitter account please follow and promote/announce this accounts.

Of course the most important thing is the interest of community and
the will to became a part of this wonderful community to make
LibreOffice the best free Office suite ever.

Best regards,
Zeki

 &amp;gt;&amp;gt; I have now proofed the Official brochures. The US-Letter one looks

 &amp;gt;&amp;gt;
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/File:LibreOfficeV.4.0.x-OfficialBrochure-GeneralInformation-A4.odt

 &amp;gt;&amp;gt;
 &amp;gt;&amp;gt;
 &amp;gt;&amp;gt; IMO all 4 of these are good to go.
 &amp;gt;&amp;gt;
 &amp;gt;&amp;gt; --Jean
 &amp;gt;&amp;gt;
 &amp;gt;
 &amp;gt; Thanks Jean
 &amp;gt;

Sorry, not ready yet!

Unfortunately, could we take a look at these again? I notice that they
are in Liberation font and not in the OpenSans fonts that the design
notes prescribe. We used the OpenSans fonts as these mimicked the
website new page -- it uses the same fonts.

I have now fixed the problem with the templates which were sending
people to the wrong website. It got mixed in with some of our edits. My
apologies for this.

Jean, could you test the links on the template pages, download the fonts
and then change both the A4 and the USLtr to the right OpenSans font?
This will be a good test to see if all of our design notes work. Tim and
I both have the OpenSans installed on our boxes.

If you don't have time, I could do the changes and then you could just
take a look at the files to proof again. The OpenSans is a tighter font
and may affect the hyphenation.

Just by way of explanation for everyone, the Official versions were made
with offset printers in mind and these were designed to look like our
iconic v.4.x.x look on our website and with the idea that they would be
printed professionally.

Cheers,

Marc

Since the http://conference.libreoffice.org/talks/ URL is now in the
wild that could be made an index page listing the available years.
