<pre>I live about a mile away from this store. On some days it gets very busy and they need the parking space. The Lowes next door also allows parking but you can't run engines or generators due to neighbors. Restriction put on as part of zoning approval.

<pre>The first thing we do not know is what part of Bakersfield the inquirer is
coming from. If the western portion, he should just head west out of town,
connect to I-5 and go north. From the eastern portion of town or coming in
from the desert, I would recommend two choices to connect to I-5. The first
is the take Hwy 46 west from Famosa thru Wasco (2 lights) on to Lost Hills
and then north on I-5 OR Hwy 99 north to Hwy 120 West (just before Manteca)
to I-5. This second choice avoids the 10 miles of construction between
Manteca and Stockton which will be continuing from now till 2016 per the
posted sign. There is still construction (and will be for a long time) on
I-5 thru Stockton, but traffic flows and the right lane is not narrowed at
this point in time.

<pre>Sorry, should have been more clear.

99 runs right thru downtown Bakersfield, getting to I-5 from B-town is sort
of a pain.

So I'd take 99 to Stockton, where I'd transition to I-5 via the Hiway 4
connector freeway (shortest connection between the two at just over 1.5
miles.)

Then stay on I-5 all the way to Redding.

I'd really recommend the Stockton transition, because CalTrans has
announced that they're going to be doing repair/reconstruction work on the
X-town freeway in downtown Sacratomato here shortly, with expected huge
traffic delays on 99/50/80 in that area.

Also, if you miss the Woodland WM, there's a Pilot truck plaza just N of
where I-505 joins I-5 south of Dunnigan, approximately 10 miles from
Woodland. Take the Road 8 exit, it will be on your right behind the
Wendy's. I've stayed there a couple of times, not too bad if you don't
mind being around 18-wheelers.

mentioned an out time. The store is very close to I-81 and is a good
stopping over point when traveling that road.

Is that taking 99 or 5? I'd say 5 is better? 99 has those small towns and
stop lights as you get north. That woodland Walmart is right off the 5.

(They have a McDonald's in WM and there's an Applebees and Sonic on either end of the parking lots for food options.) Parking lot has lots of little traffic islands in odd locations. First time we stayed, we were over near the garden center and felt is was on the edge of the racetrack with all the cars whipping down to the store. Last time, we stayed along the Rt 300 edge of the lot near the traffic light - surprisingly to me, it was quieter.

Only issue we've had is one of our GPS directions sent us off into to town and through some narrow street only to find out there's no WM in that area. Make sure the directions from 84 &amp; 87 put you on 300 south

If you leave B-Town at 8 am, running 60 - 65, you'll be in Sacratomato
about 1 pm, or about 1:30 to WM in Woodland.

But if you push on just a little more, you'll be into Redding about 3:30 -
4 pm, still early enough to settle into a campsite before dusk.

Overall, it's about an 8 hr drive in one shot at an average of 50 mph.

<pre>The list in the files section will indicate which ones are NOP. The store in Charlotesville is NOP due to a small parking lot. The Sam's club nearby allows parking. Williamsburg and Va Beach are NOP as are most resort/vacation destinations.

I live in SW Va and go to Charlottesville frequently. Traffic on 29N where the Walmart and Sam's Club are located is a nightmare at certain times of the day.

<pre>I want to thank everyone that responded to my query. The information is very helpful.
Our trip is planned for just after Labor Day. We plant to spend about 2 weeks in the Redding area at one of the RV parks there. Have not decided which one yet.
Will look into staying in a commercial park in Sac also
Thanks again
Perry

As a Sacramento resident, I can tell you that all of Sacramento county (Elk Grove, Sacramento, etc.) has a county ordinance against overnight parking lot stayovers. Woodland WM is in Yolo county, (right next to I-5) but I know that the SuperWalmart in West Sacramento (again in Yolo County) has NOP restrictions. The nearest northbound rest stop on I-5 is about 40 miles north of the area. There is a southbound rest stop on I-5 near the airport.

<pre>I just came back from buying an 88 nissan sunrader shorty and stayed one night at the huge (about the size of the state of Rhode Island, 4th biggest in the world, no joke I have never seen anything like it - it is overwhelmingly huge) walmart on 77, a mile or so south of the baily bridge in Panama City FL. You park by the retaining pond. The other one was on the west side of Mobile (out the other side and down the road a bit, just off of 10W) . You park by the trucks over by the outside garden area. Both have very nice bathrooms (the new, updated ones) and nice people working there.

One question: How soon will you be travelling? We are starting to get into the warmer weather season where sleeping in a hot RV overnight can be near impossible, meaning you might have to go to a commercial RV park for electrical hookups.

<pre>You can visit the web site of this very group (WalmartRVing), and read and/or download the complete list of all US Walmarts and their overnight parking policies. Go to the group's "Files" area, at &lt;http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/walmartrving/files/&gt; and click on the folder "Walmart Parking List. Alternatively, you can go to the web site: &lt;http://halberstadt.macmate.me/Walmart&gt;.

<pre>I live in the area and also recommend the Woodland store. As you approach
Woodland (20 miles past Sacramento) take the Main St exit and turn right.
The store will be a short distance on your right. Multiple food choices.
If you have time, also go visit the Farm Equipment Museum just East of the
Wal-Mart and to the right a ½ mile or so.

It is easy off and easy back on I-5.

I struck out trying to find a Wal-Mart in Sacramento that allows overnite parking but at one of the Walmarts an employee recommended Woodland which is just north of the city. We got there about 10 PM and there was an Applebee's right there too and they have a late happy hour. Had a very cheap dinner a good sleep and bought groceries at Wal-Mart early the next day. There were quite a few RV's there and also an area for trucks by the Applebee's..

Hope that helps,

Don

Will be traveling north from Bakersfield, CA to Redding, CA via CA99 &amp; I15 and need to overnight near Sacramento. Any suggestions?
