<pre>What is the over under on how long until this shows up on BaT? Or maybe it
is too rough being paintless...

I'll be bidding! We have a couple V4's that are waiting to be done so might
as well get this one through the assembly line at the same time.

Any speculation on final price? under 8k? Under 5? Over 15!! Not often
these come up and not one that I have seen since Sonett have started to
'pop'. I will be shocked if this breaks records given its terrible shape,
but If you want, this is one of a few chances.

Worries me that Tom isn't doing this one in his shop though... no upside?
no time? Too many Sonett II's and he has become immune to their charm?

When checking with a local vintage racing group they said that I needed an upgrade as they do have a limited lifespan and sure enough, this one was getting really icky.

<pre>No, not the bladder. The foam does deteriorate and needs to be replaced
after 10 years or so. That's easily done through an access hole and should
be scheduled as preventive maintenance.

The bladder itself is more or less a lifetime component though.

I've tried liners with poor results (Professionally applied)

Bugeye folks swear by putting in a bunch of nuts and bolts and mildly soapy water and boiling over the family grill for a while and then sloshing around and pouring out. Braze / weld as needed. Similar to what Ken suggested.

<pre>Techniques for restoring tanks are wide ranging. Some are easier, some are
more effective, some are pure entertainment.
There is one technique that I haven't heard mentioned yet, perhaps because
of the expense involved.

You can send your tank to a fuel cell manufacturer and have them fabricate
a custom bladder that will fit inside your tank. Externally, the tank
appears stock but internally you have a puncture resistant bladder (and
optional anti-slosh foam) that is in effect a brand new tank (that never
rusts) inside of the old one. While the stock tank is not as sturdy as a
modern fuel cell enclosure, safety is still significantly increased.

While I've never done this, I know it is possible.

<pre>+1 on gravel. An industrial dryer at a laundromat can be substituted for a cement mixer. Box the tank with lots of padding and bring moving blankets to fill the empty space in the dryer.

For rust, you might try Google'ing articles on rust removal using molasses. Some of my friends have tried that with good results, and it's biodegradable.

Liners can be a mixed bag. Sometimes I think they are more useful to encapsulate/capture existing small particles than to prevent future corrosion.
