Sir,

*TRANSPARENCY AND PEOPLE FRIENDLY COURT SYSTEM *

Please recapitulate that this court has said in *M/s. Kranti Associates

doubted that transparency is the sine qua non of restraint on abuse of
judicial powers. Transparency in decision making not only makes the judges

broader scrutiny. (See David Shapiro in Defence of Judicial Candor (1987)

Separate regulators for water, power on cards, says FM

Move to ensure reasonable profits for producer

*The government is considering taking steps to set up separate regulators
for power and water sectors after unshackling their distribution from
public sector monopoly.*

Finance Minister P Chidambaram has stressed the need for the same for these
sectors, days after asserting that independent regulators for road and coal
sectors will come up by August-September this year.

“We need separate regulators for such sectors (power, water), whose role
will be to keep the private producer working for the public interest while
ensuring the producer makes reasonable profits and that the public sector
does not transfer undue risk on to the private sector,” Chidambaram said.

The move may be part of small steps the finance minister recently promised
the UPA will take, in order to

*Greetings from Water Initiatives Odisha!*

*
*As you are aware, we have been looking into ADB, World Bank and other IFIs

updating you occasionally about news and reports from the projects/policies
these IFIs are involved with. *

*To streamline our effort to update you with ADB's involvement in water in
Asia, we have initiated an occasional bulletin. The first bulletin was
sent on 18th May 2013. This is the second one.*

*Once again, this update continues to be occasional, with links to new and
reports only - mostly sourced from ADB. We are hoping to make it a
structure endeavor with more information, analysis and other relevant
materials. And in that we want your valuable support through inputs,
feedback and resources.*

*The basic aim of this update is to raise issues and debates around ADB's

We have been obsessed with the question: Who Really Benefits from Tourism? Our work of the last 28 years indicates that the local communities are those who benefit the least and have to bear the negative impacts of unregulated and often irresponsible tourism development.

Would you like to join us? We

On the name of campus cleaning, the EFL- University Administration decided
to remove all the Ambedkar Portraits from university campus. And this
assignment is given to a Dalit woman Professor Dr. Sujatha Mukiri. Now she
is on the job and standing at Sagar Store and arguing with the students to
not to stop her removing the Ambedkar portraits. She is threatening that
she will call police if students protest it. Call Dr. Sujatha Mukiri. On

Dear Friends
Greetings! Attached here and pasted
below you will find a news story about the systemic discrimination that Dalits

should be forgotten as an isolated case of discrimination.

Let us not forget that in the post
Tsunami relief and rehabilitation or for that matter in any post natural disaster
relief and rehabilitation phase Dalits have been facing rampant discrimination
by the Government Officials. Whether it was Tamil Nadu (post Tsunami),
Maharashtra (post earthquake in Latur), Gujarat (post earthquake), Odisha (post
cyclone) or even in recent times post Thane cyclone several kinds of
discrimination against Dalits have been reported. Even
for a burial ground Dalits have to struggle a lot.

Naming of a park/road/street/railway
junction/airports or any other public space in the name of Gandhi, Nehru and
others is not seen as a problem but when it comes to respecting Dalit icons
like Ambedkar, Phule and others i
