Thanks for the info on Virtualbox.  Well that might explain the failure to
get a dhcp lease, subsequently causing the inability to send any pings out,
which i didn't mention before for lack of experience to identify an issue.

Sorry for the substandard experience. The problem with VirtualBox,
last time we checked, was that binaries on MirOS segfault at random,
frequent intervals. This is due to a bug in VirtualBox. The response
of the developers at the time was "it works on Linux, so what".

I encourage you to try VMware (even the free VMware Player) or a Xen
HVM instance. These are what I use for MirBSD VMs, and they work
perfectly.

But I don’t think it very problematic; our install(1) is
optimised for MirPorts anyway (e.g. it doesn’t try to change
directory ownership on Interix because the latter doesn’t
even have the usual root, bin, etc. users and groups).
