<pre>Hello all,

Oops:( date-manip-pm5124-6.39-3, with that dependency bug fixed, should
be propagating to the selfupdate servers shortly. I also tweaked
gnucash2 to use just "date-manip-pm" (the -pm5124 and other -pmXXX
variants indeed being obsolete).

<pre>Hello all,

I get an error when I try to update date-manip-pm5124 on OSX 10.8. The fink info for that package says it's obsolete, so I tried to purge it. Sadly, gnucash2 appears to depend on this package, and I can't do without it. So, please fix the date-manip-pm5124 and/or upgrade gnucash2 to use date-manip-pm.

Thanks,
Sean Lake

I've been forcing rebuilds of netCDF for HDF5 updates, though, ever

library installed than what netCDF was built against.

<pre>Thanks! This came up for several reasons. First, just general knowledge. Second, I was going to try to add the new version of hd5 myself to a non-fink build, and I was careless at first and let it use /usr/bin/cc which in fact worked until i got to the netcdf4 part, but then failed, and failed at the HDF5 level when I set CC=/sw/bin/gcc-4 (which in my fink is gcc48-compiler). According to the docs, the ncdump that comes with netcdf4 should be able to read .dods files, but in testing with the present version in fink with .dods files from two different sources, it fails. I am not certain where the error is here, whether it is Mac specific or in the netcdf code, and whether the new hdf5 would make a difference. I have copied Dennis from Unidata on this also.

Also, as a favor can a double check be made that both the present netcdf4 and netcdf4 fortran will link against this, or whether I will need to do a rebuild (I believe this was the case in one update to the hdf5 package).

As always, thanks fo</pre>

<pre>
The easiest way to get at that information is through

fink dumpinfo -fcompilescript &lt;packagename&gt;

That picks up the explicit parameters that are set in our package
description, along with parameters which may have been set by default by
fink. For example:

$ fink dumpinfo -fcompilescript hdf5.7
Scanning package description files..........
Information about 7368 packages read in 1 seconds.
compilescript:
 ./configure --prefix=/sw --enable-shared --enable-cxx
--disable-fortran --with-zlib=/usr --without-mpe --with-szlib=/sw \
 --without-pthread --disable-parallel --disable-static
 make
 fink-package-precedence
--prohibit-bdep=hdf5.7,hdf5.7-oldapi,hdf5,hdf5-18 c++/ fortran/ tools/
hl/tool

What this does not show is changes made to environment variables outside
of the CompileScript. You can get that kind of information via

fink dumpinfo -fenv &lt;packagename&gt;

or

fink dumpinfo -eVARIABLE

if you want to pick a specific VARIABLE.

Fink on 10.8 is for x86_64-only. That's what's causing your build
problem. If selfupdate succeeded for you, then it must not have
involved building anything other than fink, since it just Perl scripts.

We don't support updating Fink in place from 10.6 or earlier to 10.7
*or* 10.8, even for x86_64. I recommend consulting the suggestions from
http://finkers.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/fink-and-lion/ to capture your
list of installed packages.

I'm trying to selfupdate, but for reasons I don't really understand, it fails. Google found some similar questions, but mostly they were about post-upgrade problems (10.6 -&gt; 10.7), but I'm on 10.8.3, and I believe that this isn't the first selfupdate I've made since I'd upgraded to 10.8.

It works here.

Maybe you're now behind a firewall that blocks rsync. In that case
there's nothing we can do, since we don't control your network
administrator. :-)

If that is indeed the case, you may need to switch to selfupdate-cvs.
If you do that, check with your network administrator to see if any
proxies are required, and configure those via "fink configure".

I get the same failure on my 10.6/i386 xcode-4.2 machine. It had
previously (May 2011) built for me, so presumably it's due to a change
in some dependency's headers or something.

<pre>

This is your second build failure from a system user not being present
(games in this case, messagebus previously). Was this system updated
(say from 10.5 to 10.6) or had the OS reinstalled recently? Those users
are provided by the passwd-* packages, but can sometimes be lost upon
large system changes (the Fink package would still be installed but the
system user lost).

Also, please remember to always include your system and Fink version
information when starting a new bug report.

It's built, but won't install. What do you get if you run "fink
reinstall passwd-games"?

Any time there is an error which says "invalid user", that is an
indication that a relevant passwd-* package is somehow not properly
installed.

Ok, python27 (and python33 which was also affected) should now be fixed. Try version 2.7.5-2.
