It seems quite possible that your proxy might be interfering here.

What was the command that you ran? Was it "fink install <somepackage>"
or "sudo apt-get install <somepackage>?

Hi,

I'm new to Fink and am having problems with the download of packages. Maybe
this is related to the fact that I am behind a proxy. I applied all the
proxy settings according to the Fink documentation, but am still facing
problems.

Assuming you're on 10.5 (which is the only OS version where both
fink-0.27.13 AND fink-0.32.6 should be available), make sure that you've
run the commands from:

http://www.finkproject.org/faq/upgrade-fink.php?phpLang=en#leopard-bindist1

to make sure that you're up-to-date.

Hello,

I'm upgrading from fink 0.27.13 to 0.32.6… I'm doing pretty good but I'm stuck.

I'm doing

fink install fileutils

and it's not finding it.. I find file utils in the "Packages" area and looked like it might be coreutils now but I"m not able to install that either.

finally breaking down and asking for some help.

1) Don't use attachments. It makes it a lot harder for people actually
to help you when they have to dig through an attachment, and to make
this report useful to other users we have to quote text back into the
reply for context.
2) Report the package that actually fails. The fact that you
_ultimately_ want gildas is completely and utterly irrelevant if
freetype219 is what is failing.

Your error is

Looking for incorrect headers in 44 dependency files...
./objs/.libs/ftgzip.d uses /usr/local/include/zconf.h
./objs/.libs/ftgzip.d uses /usr/local/include/zlib.h
Please fix build process to get consistent use of fink's headers.

This is not actually a problem with our package--the script that
provides the text doesn't do special cases. It's essentially impossible
to avoid building against stuff in /usr/local, so we have a FAQ about that:

You have a 3rd party zlib installed into /usr/local, which will cause
problems more often than not.

Follow the directions here:
<http://www.finkproject.org/faq/comp-general.php#usr-local-libs> and try
rebuilding gildas.

OK--that's not a Fink mpirun.

In addition to removing Fink you could rename /sw to move it out of your
PATH, or deactivate Fink by commenting out the line containing
"/sw/bin/init.sh" in your $HOME/.profile.

What do you get from "which mpirun"? Maybe you're not using the mpirun
that you think you are.

Thanks, that worked. Also, would you have any suggestions for this mpi
error:

Error: unknown option "--bootproxy"
input in flex scanner failed

I never had this error while using "mpirun -np" command, until I installed
fink.

If needed, I am ready to remove fink from my macbook. Let me know how may I
proceed.

Thanks
Shankar

'dpkg -S gcc++-fsf-4.6' would have told you that it is provided by the
gcc46-compiler package.

fink remove gcc46-compiler

Hi,

I have a makefle with this setting:
GPP = mpicxx -cxx=g++ -g

It used to work fine, but after I switched to gcc46, I get the following
error:

g++-fsf-4.6: error: unrecognized option ‘-cxx=g++’

Let me know how to get rid of gcc46 and restore my macbook 10.6.8. I tried
"fink purge gcc46", but I still see g++-fsf-4.6

Hi,

A few days back (04 April 2012), I had installed gcc46. Alexander Hansen
walked me through the procedure.

I am experiencing trouble running a cpp program.

I have a Makefile with these first few lines:

#GPP = g++
GPP = mpicxx -cxx=g++ -g
OPT = -O2
GFLAGS = -O2 -c

When I try executing the cpp program, I get this error:

mpicxx -cxx=g++ -g -O2 -c ./annz_pe/annz_pe_util.cpp -o
./annz_pe/annz_pe_util.o
g++-fsf-4.6: error: unrecognized option ‘-cxx=g++’

I shall be grateful if someone can help me on this.
Shankar
