Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 in the United Kingdom isready to go!

Hi all

For the very first time, the UK community will be competing in the annual Wiki Loves Monuments competition in September.  This is a community-led effort, with support from WMUK.  A number of volunteers have already expressed interest in helping to organize the contest, but there is much to be done and many more volunteers are needed, both now and over the coming few months.  

If you would like to contribute towards making our first ever competition the great success we expect it to be, please visit

Most metadata are not exposed by the API, but they are machine readable too

I am checking with openphoto group for adding commons as a image source.

If it is done, we can setup a openphoto instance and make it as a
gallery for users to present their photos.

Just a quick follow up on this. ULS has been enabled on CommonsBeta (thanks
to Nemo I think!) ; but apart fromThere has not been much activity on the
RFC, unfortunately.

I am unsure what needs to be done by whom and when. Should we already try
to seek large Commons community consensus? Should the i18n folks comment on
the deployment plan before?

new 4.0 version. The changes include a variety of things relevant to

readability.

CC is nearing their final version, and have asked me to ask our
community for one last round of review and comment. Consider this that

Some comments and a question around workshop of Commons at Libre Graphics Meeting

Hi everybody,

This is my first message to this list, trying to find the good channel
for sharing some impressions about a recent experience I made in the
Libre Graphics Meeting.

I'm from Argentina, a member of Wikimedia Argentina and also a teacher
working with Wikipedia from several years ago. Maybe you have read
this article in the WMF blog:

So, to the point. I proposed there a workshop about Wikimedia Commons,
oriented to spread the work dynamics of Commons among libre graphics
designers, and also to do some concrete collaborations during the
project.

This workshop was inspired in a similar exercise I did last year with
my students of digital photography, since I discovered (being jury of
Wiki Loves Monuments Spain) a lot of photos with exposure problems.

I'd love to see UniversalSubtitles come back. I've been using amara.org to
do subtitles lately, and then pasting the results into the wiki pages. But
it's a pretty clunky workflow.

The universals subtitle editor was very cool. Today its 
http://www.amara.org ... It would probably be a few days of work to 
restore their old subtitle editor into a gadget that worked with 
TimedMediaHander. The old integration code can be seen here [1], note 
its not part of the current master for mwEmbed.

I don't know if the latest features would be easy to integrate, because 
I believe amara is more focused on tighter integration into the amara 
platform.
