I, for one, would very much appreciate that.

I find the Warp-style menu navigation behaviour (explicit click required)
to be one of the best features of Presentation Manager as a GUI. I just
can't work with the Windows way. (Navigating to the correct submenu
using a dirty or flaky mouse, or a touchpad, is quite impossible. Even
with a standard, healthy mouse it's hard enough.)

Did you test this with a target that asks for source rendering ?
My understanding is that the source as well as the target call
DrgFreeDragtransfer (that's why it needs to be called twice).
If you call DrgFreeDragtransfer twice in the source this might
lead to an access problem in the target.

/*! \internal
According to my tests, DrgFreeDragtransfer() appears to be bogus: when the
drag source attempts to free the DRAGTRANSFER structure passed to it in
DM_RENDERPREPARE/DM_RENDER by another process, the shared memory object is not
actually released until DrgFreeDragtransfer() is called for the second time.
This method tries to fix this problem.

I think this is a matter of getting used to. The thing is that the problems you
describe are typical to the mouse navigation in general (e.g. it's very
difficult to move the mouse pointer straight horizontally or vertically). If one
wants preciseness he usually uses the keyboard most of the time (like me).

And, what's wrong with the Caps Lock? :) I don't have any problems. My Caps Lock
is reprogrammed to act as Left Win.

:) I think everybody faces the same issue here.

As an option, we may simply check form SET MENUSFOLLOWPOINTER=ON in config.sys
(used by WarpCenter AFAIR) and only enable the modern behavior if it's present.
We'll see.

True it is arguable, but my argument would always be in favor of the "old
fashioned" solution there, not the "modern" one! The reason is that for me the
saved click is really little compared to the many times I was already choosing
the wrong menu option, or the difficulty to always nicely navigate the mouse
along the correct menu item line, etc. (The "modern behaviour" of menus is for
me a permanent nuisance like the "Caps Lock" key that is also a good cause for
fighting...)

Maybe some training as computer gamer is required to aquire the necessary fine
motoric training?? ;-)

PS: No "fight" intended: Just another opinion! Technically I would be more than
happy if this behaviour could be switched with some global option!

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;This situation:

- PMView supports OS/2 icons, but does not support transparency properly

- Other conversion programs may support transparency, but not OS/2 icons

- The OS/2 icon editor is a possible solution, but a real pain to work with

But now I found a two-step solution:

1. First transform the icons from whatever they are to Windows icons using Gimp
or, even more quick and comfortable, one of the image converters that are now
available also among the Qt ports

2. Use IcPlus (http://glass.ptv.ru/icplus.html) to convert from Windows icons
to OS/2 icons

Works fine! ;-)

Thanks for your opinion, but the latter is arguable. In most modern UIs
(including the Apple one which is known to be well-thought), the selected menu
item follows the mouse pointer automatically. The rationale is that it gives
better visual feedback and saves you a click. I find both of these things
important and in total they outweigh the only minus -- opening a wrong sub-menu
if you position the mouse pointer not precisely enough.

Yes, that's true. So it gives one "con" more. In order to do it properly,
eStyler would have to export a DrawControl procedure that may be used to draw
all shapes (buttons in various states, check boxes etc) on an arbitray HPS at
request of Qt. AFAIR, such procedure does not currently exist. It's actually
quite a big "con" because having a classical Warp4 style while the rest of the
system is eStyled beats the whole purpose of this style (whose only idea is to
make the Qt applications have a consistent look and feel that matches the rest
of the system).

This is not the most important argument :) There is a lot of code not too easy
to maintain already. So a couple thousands lines more or less doesn't make a big
difference.

This is another important "con". More over, I even think that one of the reasons
to remake the whole WPS and standard PM apps in Qt is to give it a modern look
through Qt styles.

However, with the next release of Qt, we will move from WPI to RPM/YUM and you
