Hello Brandon.

I've seen that the FSF has a quite strict procedure for organizing this
kind of funding, and I'll have to follow it.  Let me remind everybody
that we shouldn't be wasting resources coming from associate memberships
and donations -- also including our own.

After the first round of requests is over I'll be able to give an
answer.

Hi everyone,

I am humbly submitting for your consideration my application for some
amount of travel assistance to be able to attend the GHM this year.  As
a publicly funded PhD student in the times of austerity, I think you can
appreciate that "times are tough", as they say.

I think I can cover my ho(s)tel, food etc, so I would only need
assistance with the flight.  Looking now, round-trip flights from
Barcelona to Paris are around 150 euros, so that approximate amount
should be sufficient.

Hello.

I'd like to discuss some ideas for talks with you, before sending more
official invitations to project mailing lists asking if a speaker is
available.

Personally I'd really like:

* A talk about the new GNU/Hurd distribution and/or recent developments
  (I think Samuel Thibault is working on SATA DDE, for example);

* A talk about the new Guile virtual machine;

* A tutorial talk on writing GCC frontends (if the topic isn't
  too hopelessly wide).

As a more vague idea, I'd like one or more talks showing how great
hackers work.

Let me explain: I'm a command-line guy.  I use Emacs, I do shell
scripts, I use a tiling window manager; I have a very personalized setup
on all my machines.  I'm sure the same is true for many of you: to a
beginner what we do is magic.  I've been asked questions about my setup
many times by some stranger in awe who happened to be looking behind my
shoulder.  However I'm not a master at most of the things I do.  With
Emacs, for example: not at all.  I've seen real masters at

Unfortunately it turns out that Frankie won't be able to attend; however
he'll send us an audio/video recording of his presentation that we'll
show at the meeting as a regular talk, followed by a Q&A live from
Kenya.

This setup will be an interesting "first" for the GHM.

I've seen that you took over maintaining QuickThreads, but there isn't a
lot of information about it on the net.  What is it all about?  What are

I am looking to give a talk in the next meeting .
I would like to look at something i would like to broadly call process management.
I want to look at how we can manage these in a broad sense in terms of the package I am writing and to give in a  papaer I am preparing.
I believe this will be the best crowd with all the people to critic.

I'm only a recent addition to the GAC, so I don't think I was on it yet
when we spoke on IRC!  Anyway, yes you can add me and my talk (probably
pyconfigure, since it's new) as tentative.  I'd really like to attend so
I'm going to try hard to make it happen.

That of course means that I can't commit to a talk right now but I might
sign up for a last-minute lightning talk on pyconfigure or GSRC if there

Hard to say. Initially don't expect me. If I finally can do it, it would
be a last minute decision. I probably will spend August in Spain,
not in Oxford but I have to take care of my 1,39 years old hacker :-)
(or bringing him to his 1st GHM)
