<pre>I have been searching for an answer to this problem for a little while now, and hope someone on this list can help.

I am using omshell to configure hosts on dhcpd. So far, we just set the hardware and ip address, and that has been enough. I have run into some cases where we also need to set either filename or option bootfile-name options, and I have been unable to find a way to do that.

First, I tried set "option bootfile-name" = "file.cfg"
Then I tried set statements = "option bootfile-name \"/file.cfg\";" as suggested on a few mailing lists

Both attempts result in the error "can't open object: invalid argument" when I issue the create command.

I've also tried using filename instead of bootfile-name, which results in the same behavior.
Is this possible to accomplish with omshell/omapi? I am using isc-dhcpd-4.1.1-P1 on RHEL 6.1

Thanks!

flags allowing clients to automatically generate their own IPv6
addresses and bypassing the enforcement of DHCPv6.

The flags you need to indicate that DHCPv6 is in use are:
AdvManagedFlag on;
AdvOtherConfigFlag on;
AdvAutonomous off;

I also assume that the linux box running RADVD is acting as the
router/gateway for the IPv6 network?

That's not what shared-network does. Shared-network means that the
server expects all those networks to be just one broadcast domain. It
doesn't matter if the networks in question are local or remote. From the
man pages of dhcpd.conf:

: If any subnet in a shared network has addresses available
: for dynamic allocation, those addresses are collected into
: a common pool for that shared network and assigned to
: clients as needed. There is no way to distinguish on which
: subnet of a shared network a client should boot.
If all clients explicitly match a class via CI/MAC then you will
probably not see the effect of shared-network, but using shared-network
when the networks do not in fact share a broadcast domain is technically
wrong.

Good thing that's solved. :-)

<pre>We're using IP Helpers to point to the server. So in effect yes it's only
broadcasting on one VLAN.

However, I did just figure out the problem. For whatever reason, the
subclass entry starting with 1:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx works fine in static mode,
upon getting the LDAP debugging working, i discovered it was querying for
01:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, which is why it was not finding a match. I corrected
my entry in LDAP, and everything started working properly!

Thanks to Steven Carr for helping me work through things.

You have exactly one broadcast domain/VLAN with all those networks?
That's the only reason to use "shared-network" AFAIK.

and reading /sbin/dhclient-script I was able to extract all the
variables I need using a script in /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d and
now I am half way done, now with some changes in /sbin/dhclient-script I
will be able to make dhcp write the configs in alternate routing tables
because it uses the simple and well known route comand.... ;-)

With the modifications I beleave that I will be able to do somethig like
dhclient eth0 &amp;&amp; dhclient eth1 and as a resut have 2 instances of
dhclient running each one writing in a different routing table... will
keep you posted!

Thanks!

You can fix that easily - don't do any NAT other than on the routers.
Say your router A NATs its public IP to 192.168.1.0/24, and router B NATs its public IP to 192.168.2.0/24. You give your machine an interface in both subnets, and ROUTE between those and your internal network on (say) 192.168.3.0/24. Note I said ROUTE - just route without any NAT and you eliminate the second NAT layer.
All it needs is to add a static route to each router so it knows to send packets for 192.168.3.0/24 via your server. You could possibly include the two "external" networks as well, but I doubt that's required - ie give router A a static route for 192.168.2.0/24 via your server, and router B a static route for 192.168.1.0/24 via your server.

That will eliminate the two layers of NAT, though if you want to configure stuff that the routers can't do then you may still have a reason for wanting to get rid of them.

Also, you might cnsider getting the DHCP client to do all the stuff that will keep the ISP happy, but statically c</pre>

SC&gt; Asking the same question a second time when no-one responded the first

SC&gt; From a quick Google search it looks like dhclient doesn't do this out
SC&gt; of the box, you're gonna have to modify the scripts dhclient runs post

SC&gt; Easiest option is to install an intermediate box (see Peplink, Elfiq,

<pre>Hi everyone, I´m having trouble finding a way to make dhclient put it´s
output into a specific routing table, my scenario is:
I have two internet connections and until now i can only setup both
using static IPs, that´s force me or routing the modems when it´s
possible or use routers between the modems and the server, in both
cases my network will be under two NATs, one from the routers and other
from the server itself. So, to simplify thinks and make then more
elegant I want to eliminate the routers, to do that I need that dhclient
put the configurations that it accquire from ISPs into specific routing
tables instead the default "main" routing table (found in
/etc/iproute2/rt_tables)...
So I need two daemons running togheter one listening in one interface
(ex eth1) and send the configs to the table ex. LINK1 and another daemon
listening on the other interface (ex eth2) and sends the configs to
other table ex LINK2

Any ideas?

Thanks!

<pre>Ok, I see the picture. If the router had a DHCP-helper or relay
built-in, that might be an easy way. Other than that I have no proposals
at the moment.

<pre>Thanks so here is the other scenario. Can I run DHCP relay on one interface
(A) and DHCP client on another interface (B) and then forward the DHCP
REQUEST of B through A.

Best.
