I've just done it again to be sure.

* Graphs Management, select the host, delete the disk I/O graphs, select
the button to delete related data sources too
* Go into "Data Sources" for that host, check they are gone
* Device > Create graphs: create disk I/O graphs (Bytes/sec and
  Transactions/sec)
* Go into "Data Sources": new ones have been created with new IDs
* Go to one of the individual data sources, it shows

Output Type ID [Host MIB - Disk I/O - Bytes per second]
    Index Value 55
    Index Type [hrDiskIOIndex]

But I can manually change this to

    Index Value md127
    Index Type [hrDiskIODescr]

and the graph continues to collect data.

Brian.

To be honest, my tweaking session was some months ago and I fiddled round a lot.
We had around 1000 graphs of that type, so I needed a software solution quite
badly. I ended up tweaking some tables, as I did not see a neat coded solution
and expected this to be a corner case. Perhaps I'll have to make up my mind
again to dig deeper. But it's definitively an ugly part.
I'm quite sure, that after my solution was implemented, the graphs custom data
were as expected. I'll try to figure out next days as I'm currently off-campus.

Thank you. I added:

       <index_order>hrDiskIODescr:hrDiskIOIndex</index_order>

to /usr/share/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/disk_io.xml, deleted the disk I/O
graphs for one host (I'm pretty sure I said to delete linked data sources),
and recreated disk I/O graphs for that host.

If I go to "Data Sources" for that host, the "Custom Data" section still
shows:

Output Type ID [Host MIB - Disk I/O - Bytes per second]
  Index Value 55
  Index Type [hrDiskIOIndex]

but the Index Type is now a drop-down which would allow me to select
hrDiskIODescr if I wanted. Should I change it to

  Index Value md127
  Index Type [hrDiskIODescr] ?

And if so, how could I get this chosen by default for new graphs?

The systems are running now so I can't reboot to try to shuffle the OIDs
around. However as far as I can tell, the new graph is working fine and the
old graphs are continuing to capture data.

I have 22 sets of I/O graphs in total, so it would be nice if I could avoid

But unfortunately, if I remember correctly, that reindexing script does not

So, for verification only, are you able to create some NEW graphs to verify?

Yes, it's the latest one.

Thanks, I had a look at the
http://docs.cacti.net/usertemplate:data:host_mib:disk_usage

The data query has:

   <index_order_type>numeric</index_order_type>
   <oid_index>.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.1</oid_index>
   <index_order>hrStorageDescr:hrStorageIndex</index_order>

I see that <oid_index> still points to the numeric SNMP table row (not to
the description field), but <index_order> lists both fields.

So are you saying I just need to add something like

   <index_order>hrDiskIODescr:hrDiskIOIndex</index_order>

and then run reorder_data_query.php ?

Thanks,

Brian.

In case this is the latest XML, you are quite correct.
A similar problem occurred on the disk space data query. I solved it by making
the description the relevant index; in this case it would be hrDiskIODescr.
Then, Cacti will look for changes of this string for a reindex operation.

This is from memory, not tested.
In case you are able to verify, please post your results to update this data
query in the repository

From

you see, that the OID is missing. You should reindex the data query for host 42
and retry.
Or you might want to look at System Utilities -> View Poller Cache after
reindexing, filtering for that host. You will see the OID, if not, something's
broken

Few graphs like cpuUsage, loadAverage, memoryUsage are not being displayed
on the browser for couple of machines . I am not sure if it is
configuration problem because i have not admin password for cacti. Some
machines are displaying 23 graphs including mentioned graphs but some are
displaying 20 . It is clear that cacti is working for machine but not
showing only 3 graphs. I may need to configure on server side but i am not
sure. I never worked on cacti before. Can anybody help me to diagnose this.

Thanks,

In case corresponding interface names and class-maps are already part of the XML
file of that data query, you're mostly done and should perhaps only add some
title and stuff to the "suggested names" section of the graph template allocated
with that data query.

In case they're missing, you'll have to add the OIDs to the <fields> section of
that very XML file.

Both aspects are explained in the howto sections of SNMP Data Queries at
http://docs.cacti.net

Dear All,

I like to use the template on this thread and appreciate the author so much:

http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=42599&start=0

which is about graphing Cisco CBWFQ Policy.

I need some help to extend the template so that the graph indices on the
"Create Graph" for a device are listed in a more readable way. Right
now, each graph index is listed as a plain number. A more readable one
should contain interface name/description and class-map name.

I found the following list of OIDs from a script by Maxstoner on this
thread: http://forums.cacti.net/about33275.html and this
CISCO-CLASS-BASED-QOS-MIB IODs:
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-CLASS-BASED-QOS-MIB.oid:

   "config"       => ".1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.166.1.7.1.1.1", # list of all
configured QoS classes
   "config_index" => ".1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.166.1.5.1.1.2",  # cbQosConfigIndex
   "int_index"    => ".1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.166.1.1.1.1.4",  # cbQosIfIndex
   "policy_direction" => ".1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.166.1.1.1.1.3", #

It's not a really answer to your question, but you can use the latest
version of cacti through the PPA of Paul :
