I am able to collect msmtp debug logs and I am seeing that it is sitting at
:

"reading recipients from the command line and the mail"


Any idea why is it is hung there ?

network read error

Hi ,

I am getting below error in msmtp logs :

errormsg='network read error: the operation timed out' exitcode=EX_IOERR

I get this failure when authentication is enabled . When authentication is
not enabled , I do not get this error and emails are sent successfully
which tells me that there is no network problem.

Any clue would be appreciated.

Below is the config file I am using in case of failure :

Strange enough, other mails send by cron from the same server are as 
expected, so it should not be about mailx. On the other hand, I have 
backupninja with the same config on other servers, and don't encounter 
the "attachement problem" there. Maybe it's one of these difficult 
interaction thinggies - I'll check configs and hopefully will be able to 
solve this.

Hi,

I use
ii  msmtp                 1.4.28-1        amd64

which works fine except one thing - mails send to me when a backup is 
done (via backupninja) come always as attachement. The original mail has 
no text, only an attachement without a name. When I open/save it, the 
dialog says:

The mail shows then as a text file:

I used to use postfix and sendmail, but for reasons unknown (and unlogged) one or the other no longer works. So now I'm using msmtp, works like a charm, but can't sort out how to send as Content-type: text/html;

I was struggling to find an rpm for it for CentOS but in the end managed
to procure msmtp-1.4.23-1.el6.src.rpm. That looks quite old so if you
have a link to any newer repo for msmtp on CentOS 6, I'd be much obliged.

Compiling msmtp on CentOS 6.3 server

Hi, all.

I'm attempting to compile the latest msmtp from the git repo on
Sourceforge on CentOS 6.3 64-bit server.

When I run `autoconf' I get:

`$ autoconf
configure.ac:34: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow
See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.ac:35: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_SILENT_RULES
configure.ac:45: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_GNU_GETTEXT
configure.ac:117: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONDITIONAL`

& if I run `configure` after that I get:

`$ ./configure
configure: error: cannot find install-sh or install.sh in build-aux
"."/build-aux`

I'm generally pretty good at compiling stuff but am brand new with
autoconf. Can anybody give me any pointers as to to how to approach
debugging this?

After pkgconfig, I had to install texinfo also.
Still I am getting some error in doc/ directory while running make and make
install.
But i think it is only doc related. Everything else is working.
I'm able to send email.
So everything is working fine. :-)
Practically problem is solved and closed. Thanks a lot.

For completeness sake, I shall anyway add the error output i was getting
regarding doc.
