Biggest Fake Conference in Computer Science

We are researchers from different parts of the world and conducted a study on the world’s biggest 
bogus computer science conference WORLDCOMP  http://sites.google.com/site/worlddump1 
organized by Prof. Hamid Arabnia from University of Georgia, USA.


We submitted a fake paper to WORLDCOMP 2011 and again (the same paper with a modified title) to 
WORLDCOMP 2012. This paper had numerous fundamental mistakes. Sample statements from that 
paper include: 

(1). Binary logic is fuzzy logic and vice versa
(2). Pascal developed fuzzy logic
(3). Object oriented languages do not exhibit any polymorphism or inheritance
(4). TCP and IP are synonyms and are part of OSI model 
(5). Distributed systems deal with only one computer
(6). Laptop is an example for a super computer
(7). Operating system is an example for computer hardware

Not really. The only thing you can do is set the list's preferred
language to a supported language that uses utf-8 such as Arabic, but
then the web interface and various messages will all be in that
language, and that probably wouldn't be acceptable.

Hello
As I already said, when I use Farsi characters in the welcome message of my 
mailing list, the characters are not shown correctly. only peculiar numbers 
are shown instead. You can see an example of the welcome message here. 
unfortunately I don't have access to Cpanel\3rdParty\Mailman installation 
folder. I don't think my host will cooperate in solving the problem either. 
Is there any way I can address the issue by myself?

No, you are not doing this correctly. The msgid string is the key by
which the English language message is looked up. You do not change
this. You place your translation of the message in the corresponding
msgstr string.

Question about translation of PO file

Hi there
I know I should ask this question from Mahyar Moghimi, and I have already asked him, but since he is on new year's holidays and 
can't reply soon , I ask it here. I tried to translate a part of
mailman.po

Into Farsi language.  I attached the translated part here as a text file. I only translated short and important phrases now, not 
long ones. Now I have 2 questions:
1- Am I writing the translations in the right positions?
2- How can I test to see if the translations are working rightly?

I have already read the How-to-translate guide, but I got confused because there were lots of various guides and some of them where 
not clear enough.

There is no Farsi i18n available for Mailman. According to
<http://wiki.list.org/display/DEV/Languages>, there is a Farsi
translation being worked on by Mahyar Moghimi
<mahyar.moqimi< at >gmail.com>, but this has not yet been submitted.

You should contact Mahyar Moghimi and encourage the submission of this
translation, Alternatively, If you want to work on your own
translation, see

pages it links to for information on how to start. If you have
specific questions, ask here and we will try to help you.

Hi everybody
I am happy to join your mailing list.
I recently installed a mailing list on my website. The Python version on my website is 2.1.1.5. I need to choose Farsi (Persian) 
language as the default language of the mailing list, but this option is not available among the currently available languages. I 
saw Persian in the list of your available languages table, but I wonder how I can use this language for my website. I appreciate 
your help. I am not very well acquainted with Python mailing list system.

If you mean can a list admin cause a sequential number to be put in the
Subject: header, then yes since 2.1.6. See the "(Details for
subject_prefix)" link on the list's General Options page in the web
admin interface.

If you mean are the 6-digit numbers in archive URLs like
<http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-i18n/2013-February/001801.html>
assignd sequentially as messages are archived, then yes.

If you mean something else, please clarify.

What Mailman version is this?

Is the list's preferred_language Hebrew?

Do you see the above in the footer of messages from the list or only in
the web admin GUI? Note that if you only see the literal HTML entities
in the web GUI, this is fixed in Mailman 2.1.13.




Assuming the list's preferred_language is Hebrew and the HTML entities
above are what you see in the footer of messages from the list, you will
probably have to set the footer with Mailman's bin/config_list. This
requires command line access to the server.

You would prepare an input file containing something like

It is possible to support sub-dialects.  We already support pt and pt_BR for
Portuguese and zh_CN and zh_TW too.  I've occasionally been asked for English
dialects to add colour and internationalisation :).

What doesn't work so well right now is stacking those dialects, so that if
most of en_US works for you, you'd just need an en_GB for the few differences
between American and British English.  This might be something we could fix in
Mailman 3; it could make for a nice little contribution if someone were
interested in doing so.

Didn't you understand the word as such or didn't you know the concept?
If it's the first, which word did you know?
If it's the second, no German word wouldn't have helped either.


First, no you won't. E.g. I failed to find a good translation for
"scheduler" (to name the oldest one I can remember) for decades.
And no, I do not know (or have) the legendary "Siemens-Dictionary" from
the times where German was the corporate language there. The examples
from that "Siemens-Dictionary" at the university were quite funny at
that time.

Second, you loose all the techies who know the English terms and who
have to learn(!) the - new and thus artificial - German word.
And for people who do not know what "email bounces" (as such) are, a new
German word won't help either (or an existing word with the n+1.
meaning).
And yes, IMHO the french strategy to define French words purposely
different from the English one for new terms is a strategic failure - at
least for the IT area.

 Hello,
 It shouldn't be a completely new translation, only an improvement (in 
 our opinion).
 In the current version, there are not-translated segments, false 
 translations, mistakes in grammar and orthography and maybe mistakes in 
 the consistency.
 Our work will include a lot of quality assurance and an increasement of 
 the accessability...the second part is more important...a little 
 example:
 No one here (neither me) has known, what "bounce processing" is (its 
 actually translated with "Bounce-Erkennung"). Now, i know what it 
 is...but i had to read in wikipedia. You know what i mean? We think, its 
 possible to found everytime a term in the target language to explain for 
 everyone, whats exactly meant.
