mail this old list with the new address? I'd like to shut down this
old list by December 20 or so.

2.0 was a complete rewrite that I started in 2005, but never finished.
I had a look at the code some months ago, and I wouldn't want to use it
now. If I were to get back to working on EoC again, I'd be starting
over from scratch again. I've learned a few new tricks since, and I'm
much more pedantic about test coverage, too.

However, I'm quite OK if someone else wants to pick up the code I
wrote back then and run with it.

The Github way (™) is to fork it, commit your changes, then send a pull request. Are you comfortable doing that?

I'm unfamiliar with 2.0. It is a rewrite?

I am still making alternate arrangements for a mailing list.

Would it possible to put whatever code there is for EOC 2.0 on Github as well? I have a tarball that Lars sent me back in March. I'm assuming the code base hasn't changed since then. :)

If no one objects, I'll through that up on Github as well (or forward the tarball to you Stephen).

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi,

I've not touched the Enemies of Carlotta code base for years now.
I'm now taking the next step where I will stop hosting any
mailing lists myself. By the end of this year, I'll be shutting
down all my remaining mailing lists, including this one, the
one dedicated to eoc.

If anyone wants to pick up hosting of this mailing list, please
set up a new list and mail the address to this list. For reasons
of privacy, I'd rather not share the current subscriber list.

If there are any serious problems with the code that need
fixing, I may be able to help with that, but on the whole,
unless someone else steps up as the maintainer, I think it's
time to declare this project dead.

Thank you from me to everyone who's ever used eoc. I enjoyed
writing it, and it's always been nice to know others are using
my software.

Happy hacking.

The link at http://liw.iki.fi/liw/log/2006-Enemies-of-Carlotta.html#20060712b takes you back to the main page, which has no reference to it. The BZR code at http://code.liw.fi/enemies-of-carlotta/bzr/trunk/ appears to be 1.2.x.

I was able to download the tarball from http://liw.iki.fi/liw/eoc/2.0.alpha1/enemies-of-carlotta-2.0.alpha1.tar.gz, but is the code under source revision anywhere? I'm not sure if anything happened since alpha1.

I'm not looking to take over development (at this point), but I thought I might use the EOC2 code as the starting point for something. I'm happy to stick it up on Github or something if that would be useful to others.

Thanks!

Thanks, Dave.

As it happens, my bzr branch already has this fix: see
http://code.liw.fi/enemies-of-carlotta/bzr/trunk/ (that's a bzr branch;
looks empty in a web browser).

I haven't done an eoc release in a long while. Things have bit-rotted
enough that I am not sure I can make one without breaking things, and
thus I don't want to make one until I have to spend a couple of days on
it, so that I can be sure to catch any breakage, and fix anything that I
don't catch.

Dave, are you OK with carrying a patch in the Debian package, even in
the squeeze release?
