<pre>Hi Antti,

I just pushed a new version to
https://github.com/jazzscheme/jedi-windows-mingw.git.

It includes all the latest Jazz / Jedi improvements and bug fixes and
should fix the problem you encountered.

PS: Don't hesitate to report any problems or improvement ideas. Improving
Jedi is a very high priority!

PPS: Adding the directory containing jedi.exe to PATH should not be
necessary.

As I explained in my previous message I just sent (Unbound variable when
running make on windows), all these problems will disappear when Jazz gets
built using the latest Gambit (which is just waiting on a couple bug fixes
from Marc). So I'd suggest holding tight until then :-)

Best regards,

<pre>Great fix Michal!

Indeed Jazz uses a customized version of Gambit 4.6.6 with various
additions.

Last week I modified Jazz to be able to work without those additions and so
was able to build Jazz using the latest Gambit. Unfortunately, in the 8
months of not using the latest Gambit, it seems that various bugs have been
inserted in Gambit (random heap overflow crashes, problems with TCP on
Windows). I am waiting on Marc to look at those. Until then we will still
need the customized Gambit 4.6.6: https://github.com/jazzscheme/gambit that
the ./jam script pulls automatically.

Cheers,

I downloaded the ZIP from https://github.com/jazzscheme/jedi-windows-mingw
(the "Clone in Windows" button), and eventually unzipped it and moved to a
directory named:

C:\Users\karttu\jedi\2.8\

When I start jedi.exe in the same directory (or when going into another
directory, after having added
/c/Users/karttu/jedi/2.8 to PATH).
it says: "Welcome to Jedi, Please enter the profile that will be used for
this session.", but after clicking Login, says:

"The following error occurred while loading the profile:
Unable to find unit: jazz
Press Continue (to bypass this problem using a generic profile class), Exit
to exit immediately".

I see the problem is that it cannot find the stuff
under C:\Users\karttu\jedi\2.8\lib\jazz\
(because I can reproduce the same error under the Linux version, by moving
the corresponding directory temporarily somewhere else).

So, how I can tell jedi.exe where to find that unit? I tried setting
environment variable LIBRARY_PATH, but to no avail.

In the lastest Jedi version I cannot evaluate code in a buffer (using

I also tried to create an instance of a process in the "run" procedure and
I can evaluate code but I always get a warning dialog: "Some processes do
not contain the current file: ...".
It gets annoying since crtl-return is one of the function I use the most.

Anybody can help me?

If I don't change the destination folder it works but if I change it the

Also, how can I define a new alias in jazz/jedi?

<pre>Hi Chris,

Short answer is no.

But nice coincidence, last week another Jazz user, Dominic Charley-Roy
asked me the same question. We brainstormed and came to the conclusion that
the most interesting solution seemed to integrate the SXML library (
http://okmij.org/ftp/Scheme/SXML.html) to Jazz. From my understanding, SXML
is the way to go for XML in Scheme. It is well known, documented,
functional and high-performance from what I read.

We decided Dominic and me that he would first get to know SXML by using it
directly in Gambit (from the Gambit dumping grounds:
http://dynamo.iro.umontreal.ca/~gambit/wiki/index.php/Dumping_Grounds) and
next week we'll sit together and integrate it in Jazz which should be easy.

I'll keep you posted.

<pre>Hi Felipe,
Currently the documentation is in JML format. This is a format similar to XML but with parenthesis and no ending tag.
This format exports to HTML but not to other formats yet.
The document format of Jazz exports to PDF documents though.

So the answer to your question is no. We cannot at this point generate a big PDF aside from saving the HTML as a PDF document. You will find though that there is no more than a dozen files.

There are short term plans on improving the documentation of JazzScheme. So eventually, we will be able to display contextual help in Jedi and update the web documentation more rapidly by editing JML markup in an editor.

Dont hesitate to post back to the group or connect to the IRC channel #jazzscheme if you have questions.
