I'm a surprised not to see Roberto Pérez Favela named among winners.
His design is probably the only one vivid enough to grab attention and
interest a person who has never heard of Ubuntu before, the only one
to actually promote Ubuntu instead of providing a checkbox-filling
countdown for geeks who know the release date anyway.

I'm glad Roberto's set will still be a valid Canonical-hosted option though.

Hello, it's time to announce the winners of the Countdown Banner contents.

First, thank you everyone, there were many excellent choices. As I said
before, everyone who contributed a complete set will be able to serve and
feature their banners. The winner and two runner ups will be featured on
the Ubuntu website, the other 10 (yes, there were 13 complete sets) will be
featured on the wiki. [1]

I'm still updating the scripts and getting the banners checked in but the
winners have been waiting long enough. There's no need to keep them waiting
until the banners go live on (or about) the 27th of March.

The winner is Silviu-Ionut Radu. He's graciously updated his design
slightly so you'll be able to see the final draft soon.

The two runner ups are JavierGMXD and Gerhard Großmann.

Thank you all!

I asked the question in the ubuntu forums and was sent in you guys
direction.

When Ubuntu studio 11.10 was released I couldnt find any CD artwork so I
drew one up.
I intend to do the same for 12.04.

So where should I submit my work.

Its listed on my own website (although at the moment not in an easily found
location) but I thought you guys could benefit from it.

I'm no artist but I dont see why that should be a problem.

So where should it be submitted?

many great submissions and a winner and two runner-ups were chosen. I've
contacted each of them and once I get word back then I'll announce the
winners.

As a change from previous years, anyone who has a complete set of banners
will have them hosted by Canonical. We'll feature the winner and the two
runner-ups on the ubuntu.com website and the other selected winners will be
featured on the wiki, including links to put onto your website in order to
use the banner.

Those of you who were not contacted by me personally to be chosen as a
finallist are welcome to create a complete set and attach it to the wiki
(or link it from the wiki) by Monday.

Thank you all for participating!

Sorry for late reply, this list is not particularly active lately.

Ubuntu's Humanity theme already ships in SVG format, so you can browse
Ubuntu icon theme at /usr/share/icons/Humanity/. The icon you're
looking for is access.svg in apps/ folder.

Humanity icons are based on elementary icon theme, which has just
received a redesign; the same icon with much more vibrant color can be
found bazaar branch for elementary 3.0:

*Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is just around the corner!*

As in the past, we'd like to create a new countdown banner to share across
the web. If you would like to make a highly visible contribution to Ubuntu,
this is your chance.

Just shortly after the Beta launch (about 30 days before release) we'd like
to launch a new countdown banner that says something like "30 more days
until Ubuntu 12.04 LTS" Each day the banner will decrease by one until the
release day, April 26th. On the 26th it will say something like "It's
almost here" or similar. Then when we do the release the slide will change
to "it's here!" (remember to include the apostrophe in "it's"!)

*How can you help?*

Create a graphic representing what you think the countdown should look
like. It is not necessary to create an entire set of images. Instead, do a
couple to demonstrate your idea. The community and Canonical staff will
choose the official banners and maybe give some guidance in case a change
is needed to polish it up. Lets aim to *get submissions i
