Hi,

The two-week deadline ends today. I've just removed the 2011 devel folder. As
you kwow you can always fetch the old repos from the "tags" folder (including
the latest 2011 EOL):

Thanks for all contributors.

I will give you some feedback from what I have gathered from several
Pardus community members:

Up until now the main Pardus distribution was Pardus 2007, 2008, 2009,
2011... Only recently did a Corporate release come about.
Many users who have used Pardus have not and will not switch to Pardus
Corporate 2 because it is not the same (mostly because of KDE 3.5 I
believe).

If TUBITAK is still interested in developing Pardus Corporate 2 (and
later versions), and TUBITAK no longer has enough developers that can
supports two separate distributions, why not give Pardus 2011.2 (and its
successor) to the Pardus Community? (very similar to Fedora/Redhat or
openSUSE/SUSE Enterprise)

This would indeed require some cooperation with TUBITAK, but the
community could be mainly responsible.

The advantage to this is that we would not have to fork and change the
name, we will still have Pardus 2012 to look forward to, plus all of the
good that comes out of Pardus 2012 would go in to Corporate 2 (or

Hello Gökhan,

First of all thanks for you fast comment ;).

And it is said to hear you saying that losses are unrevertible, but
i am afraid your are right. So what i can tell is my personal view.

I work already for more then 15 years with Linux, and i tried and use
so many distros. Also Pardus came on my way one day, it was the
first Pardus edition that came out. And since that day i allways come
back at Pardus. Why? Because it is a distro that works 'out-of-box', and
because it is a distro that is develop by a government. And the ideas behind
that, to create an OS that everybody in Turkey can use, and of course everybody
on this planet, that idea is the best idea a government can create (in
the view of
ICT solutions). Keep then also in mind that i work for a department of the dutch
goverment, and allready try more then 10 years to get Linux in the mind of ICT
managers. And allways my big example is Pardus. So that is why Pardus is special
and different then Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.

But yeah, government is p

Well, in this stage, it would be great to hear about what your
idea/suggestion is
about the future of Pardus. What makes Pardus better as a distro? Give us
what you
have and we then try to bring them up in the workshop.

I took a note about this, your comment should be really highlighted.

Our losses are unrevertible, i think, this is very sad really. Now on,
the best think you can is to give feedback about how we can make Pardus
alive/better. And we share your comments in the workshop if we can.

Hello Gökhan,

Thank you for the comments your give here.
But you also must understand how the community look at all of this.
And sure, we all want the best for Pardus, but some people at TUBITAK
are not really doing there best for Pardus. This is how i look at the whole
situation.

And the developers whole are left, and i think you are one of them, we like to
help them. But if you want the power of the community, TUBITAK must also
let the community in. Ask what the community want and what the community
can give.

I can imagine that there maybe want something like Red Hat did before, make
a kind of community Pardus edition (like Fedora).
But the way the act right now not give any signal for this. Dropping developers
not look like, yeah ... we want continue with Pardus.

And end of march ... sorry .. we already wait for 4 months, and the
first official
mesaage we get was: Pardus 2011 is end of life. Why not also wait 2 months with
the end of life message.

But this message is allready getting to long. So tel

And this means up-to-now it's the end.
