<pre>Hello,I always used wammu successfully to backup all info between my nokia xpressmusic 5310 cell phone and my pc with gnu/linux debian 6.05. I must recognize some of the info could not be transferred (e.g., NOTES). The cell phone beared it's internal memory as well as a microSD of 1.8 GB. Recently the cell phone got somesthing screwed and I decided to buy a new one (de repair cost was almost 2/3 of a brand new QWERTY Nokia C3.00.Now I have the following problems.1) I could transfer info only partially from the backup file in the pc to the C3.2) When I try to get the whole info (microSD as well as phone memory) not all the info appears to be transferred to the C3.
To solve the problem I would like to know what additional info you need.
As a first approach I give you this:1) The Nokia xpress music 3510 bears BB5 / Nokia Series 40, 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 22) The Nokia C3.00 bears an S40 operative system.3) I tried transfer using bluetooth as well as usb cable both from PC (where I backed up the info of th</pre>

<pre>It isn't clear whether this is a gammu or Sony Ericsson bug, but backupsms
saves DateTimes for all incoming messages, but not for sent ones. Looking
at sent messages on the phone shows when they were sent, so it is saved,
but not by gammu.

I upgraded from a W760 and checked my backupsms files to find the same
problem.

Is there a way to make gammu dump all the info it takes in about an sms,
even if it's not used? I could manually download one each of my inbox and
sent mails and see if the timestamp is just hiding in a strange place.

<pre>I've also found the dialout group's behaviour to be rather inconsistent,
but never had the time to check if this was an error on my part or if there
is something else wrong. Have you tried the obvious - restarting the
system?

If it still doesn't work, you can, if you trust gammu, set gammu-smsd to
run as root (since, from your first email, it appears that all works well
if it's running as root).

<pre>Most likely /etc/init.d/gammu-smsd is setting the user for the process to
"gammu" (this is the default in Debian installs). In turn, gammu user
probably does not have write permissions for /dev/ttyUSB0. You probably
have to add gammu to the "dialout" group to achieve this.

Alternatively, edit /etc/init.d/gammu-smsd to run gammu with a user who
does have write permission to that device.

<pre>Hi folks.

I'm having issues getting gammu to run under Debian 6.0.4. Mobile
phone is a Nokia 6021 and it is connected with a DKU-5 usb-cable from
ebay. I installed gammu and gammu-smsd via aptitude and configured
/etc/gammu-smsdrc as followed:

---
[gammu]
device = /dev/ttyUSB0
connection = fbuspl2303
synchronizetime = yes
logfile = /var/log/gammu.log
logformat = textall
use_locking = yes
[smsd]
service = files
PIN = xxxx
Logfile = syslog
inboxpath = /var/spool/sms/inbox/
outboxpath = /var/spool/sms/outbox/
sentsmspath = /var/spool/sms/sent/
errorsmspath = /var/spool/sms/error/
---

When I try to start gammu with /etc/init.d/gammu-smsd the following is
written to the syslog:

---
gammu-smsd[13993]: Configuring Gammu SMSD...

those people.

<pre>Dear Gents,

I set up a gammu-smsd daemon with mysql backend, and it's working fine.
SMS-es are came and gone - so I'm happy.
But the service provider sometime sent to me an MMS message... In the DB
it's visible as binary data.

How can I convert that to any (human readable) format - e.g. html, flv,
etc. ?
Gammu is can do it generally or I need to get an other (3rd party) tool
for doing conversation?

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks a lot,

Peter

<pre>I'm not sure where you live, but in India, I have experimented so far
with seven different handsets of the type you mention (normal cell
phones, not smartphones). I have yet to find a single Nokia that
worked properly (the information in the Gammu database notwithstanding
- possibly there are variations even within models?). A Huawei EC121
CDMA phone (actually a data card) also did not work at all. A Samsung
E2152 worked partially. The only one that provided full functionality
was a Micromax Q5, which I understand is also available outside India
these days. I have been given an old Motorola L6 which I still have to
try out.

Hope this helps
Shankar

<pre>Hi Michal,

Its nice to know there packages already available for Kubuntu. By the way,
i would like to ask this: I have an existing gammu installation (1.29), if
i install the one on the package will it affect the old version or
overwrite it?

Thanks!

Dear Gammu Users,

I need to buy a new cellphone, simple and nonexpensive. I will need
to sync the phone book and the calendar, using Gammu.
Which phone would you recommend, among recent ones currently on the market?
(Not a smartphone, just a simple cell phone.)

Thank you for any advice!
Andrei
P.S: I tried to search using the Gammu cell phone database, but it seems
that almost all models there are very old. I could not find any model
that would be currently available.
