    <description>Hi Philip,

This is a known bug, see: http://64studio.com/node/678

If you look at the changelog, you'll see the only update in Debian was
to fix the desktop file name!

http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/q/qsynth/qsynth_0.2.5-2+etch1/changelog

It's the workaround for this bug in the 64studio-themes package which
conflicts with Debian's fix.

So locking the package version for the time being is perfectly
acceptable. It's actually long overdue for a package update.

Cheers!

Daniel

    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.distributions.64studio/2575</link>
    <description>Hi Dave,

Indeed, being Etch based, it is getting old library-wise. That makes it
harder to backport newer applications in a sensible fashion. The Gimp is
a particular problem, because new releases always need very recent GTK+.

Yes, that is our first attempt at upgrading to Debian Lenny, which is
not released yet of course.

These are the two sources I'm updating my test system against at the moment:

# Debian lenny
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free

# Backports repository, needed to get -dev packages
deb http://apt.64studio.com/backports/ lenny-backports main

This does lead to removing quite a few packages, so probably shouldn't
be attempted on a production system for the time being.

&gt; Does it address my need, i.e.

I should think so, it's good for building Ardour 2.x releases, e.g. see
Quentin's how-to at: http://www.64studio.com/ardour_2.5

Cheers!

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the advice. The problem is that flash used to work with my 64
bit version of Iceweasel and then it stopped one day after an upgrade.
So I think this is a bug that needs to be fixed. The musicians I know
aren't going to want to use 64 Studio if they have to tinker around with
basic applications to get them to work, and flash is really important
for MySpace users, which is just about every musician I know.

Cheers!

Hi Quentin and All,

I tried that. apt tells me that I have the latest version, but all the
flash enabled pages I visit tell me that I need to install flash.

I have an always on broadband internet connection, so I have no idea
what the problem is. I'd say it's broken, at least in the 64 bit version
of 64 Studio. I was also advised to install a 32 bit browser, but I
didn't want to do that.

Cheers,

    <description>Hi Quentin,

I took that off for the moment, because we're trying to separate out the
company pages from the community pages a little. We don't want to take
the approach of Red Hat, Novell or Canonical, where community and
company are featured on two (or more) entirely different sites.

However, we do need to make the homepage look more like the site of a
cool software company with some excellent code, as we've been
under-selling ourselves for too long.

Cheers!

We have the library in 2.1, but not the brltty daemon. Some integration
with the installer is likely to be required.

    <description>Hi Noel,

This is not a patch that we include in 64 Studio by default, because
there are some problems with the approach when using a real-time kernel.
However if you have two or more 1010's then it's well worth trying to
apply the patches yourself. Please let us know how you get on.

Cheers!

Daniel
