According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video, no major browser
supports "video/mov" in a &lt;video /&gt; element. I might be misreading, but
you might have better luck converting it into webm, H.264 or Theora

One way to do that would be to set up a repository for the file. That
way, the Packages file will list hashsums for the .deb and apt-get (and
friends) can verify the file as you download it.

This also has the advantage that your end users can get updates as
easily as the rest of their OS.

No change at all, same ting happens.

Thanks for your help Chris and you also Brian. But I think that it's
something to do with my /home partition and I'm going to format it and
reinstall again and see if something changes.

I have backups of the files and data, so will not lose anything.

Thanks for your help. It's appreciated.

I have experience with a Canon LBP7200C. The printer works well under
debian but it was difficult to set up. The driver from Canon comes
with no support and I had to hunt around on the web for installation
scripts and a new driver. It does not recognise postscript but
instead uses CAPT. Once the setup woes were over, I've been quite
happy with the results, but you should check the availability of a
driver before you buy.

That is what I am trying to achieve by the progress file. I have noticed
that sometimes with usb, the device is "discovered" multiple times. So I
want to prevent multiple instances of the script. I will obviously need
to find a better locking mechanism.

I am lost here. I thought that this would be a simple mountpoint check.
Is there a better way to mount and check if the drive is mounted?

Hi Ethan,

No need for any launchers on the desktop.

Simply make sure you have, i.e.:

XKBLAYOUT="il,us"

XKBOPTIONS="grp:alt_space_toggle"

in your /etc/default/keyboard or /etc/X11/xorg.conf (depending on
Debian version).

Then you can toggle those two layouts with ALT and Space.

It doesn't seem like a bad idea; especially since you get some extras from at
(e.g. mail error output to user) for free. Another approach would be

 { sleep 60; /data/backups/scripts/backup-disk-1.sh } &amp;

But I don't see why you even need the sleep.

should be backticks here so that date is evaluated e.g.

start_date_time=`date +%Y-%m-%d-%H:%M:%S`

There is a risk of race conditions here, if two instances of your script
are fired off at similar times. E.g., whilst instance #1 has performed
the check, instance #2 creates the file… Better would be a proper locking
solution. (sorry I'm not offering one in this reply)

<pre>Hi,

I am trying to setup a basic backup script for a Debian 6.0.5 server and
am wanting to validate the scripts I have so far.

Here is the scenario...

The server has 2 x 1Tb hard drives in RAID 1 config. A third 1Tb hard
drive is used for scheduled rsync snapshots.

I also have 5 x USB 3.0 1Tb hard drives for taking backups off site.

The aim is to plug one of the external hard drives and rsync the
snapshot backup to it automatically.

Using udev rules I now have the hard drives being recognised on plug in
and udev firing off a test script.

As it is not a good idea to block up udev by running the backup script
from the udev rule, I need a staging script to start the backup, but not
immediately.

The backup script is intended to be run 1 minute after the external hard
drive is plugged in, and this is what I have come up with:

Staging Script
==============

/data/backups/scripts/start-disk-1.sh
#!/bin/bash
echo /data/backups/scripts/backup-disk-1.sh | at now + 1 minute

Is this the correct way to c</pre>

That's what I thought. I put debugging on for the pm-utils scripts and

Actually I can still boot the system either by entering

Or I have a booting squeeze pen-drive so by mounting the USB HDD Wheeze

I've done this by booting the system and running
apt-get remove --purge grub-pc

I've changed the partition label to USBDeb64 which is a bit shorter and
more convenient and updated fstab

I've reinstalled grub2
apt-get install grub-pc
And edited /boot/grub/grub.cfg despite that files insistence that you
not edit it

When I reboot I end up at the grub&gt; prompt again.

I'm not sure what if anything would be added by remotely installing grub

In the below bug report titled "unbootable when installing on USB drive"

Dear List -

Sorry for the delay and thanks for all your help.

I tried every way and could not find a mechanism for a keyboard
shortcut to switch languages.

So............. as I understand........

The installed Hebrew keyboard is a blank keyboard w/o any keyboard
map or bindings.

To achieve the map and bindings for Hebrew - I setxkbmap il and for
Engliish - setkbmap us.

Two launchers on the desktop...DONE.

How does partman works ?

<pre>Hi,

I made a custom debian CD that installs fully automatically thanks to a
preseed file.
But i try to understand what happens between the reading of the "recipe" in
the preseed file and the creation of partitions on the disk, because i
don't have expected partitions size...

More particularly, i'm looking for the following informations:
- what is the purpose of "parted_server" in package "partman-base"
- how partman finally creates partitions ? I can't see any call to fdisk in
partman source code.

Also, any documentation about the internals of partman could be useful, i
did not find any on the web.

Cheers
