Alexander,

I applied the patch, built, and installed enigmail.

Now, when I put the cursor on an encrypted message in Icedove, a
Mozilla-style dialog box pops up requesting the passphrase. Excellent!
This is the same behaviour as before the upgrade from Etch.

I further checked by editing the line back into .gnupg/gpg.conf that
caused the trouble in the first place, i.e.:
gpg-agent-info /home/jack/.gnome2/seahorse-5HDGLT/S.gpg-agent:12517:1

Again, when opening an encrypted message I got the Mozilla-style dialog
box requesting the passphrase.

If this patch had been in Engimail when I upgraded to Lenny, Enigmail
would have worked.

I consider the bug to be resolved.

Jack

Bastien,

Thank you for pointing this out. I am not sure I agree that this is a
bug. The cfortran.h file says (as you quoted):

That's all. To the best of my knowledge (IANAL) this just gives the
name of the copyright holder (PROPERTY OF BURKHARD BUROW), and says that
the license can be found elsewhere.

I do not think the above statement is any sort of license because it
specifically mentions that the terms for use, modification, copying, and
distribution (all of which would be defined by a license) are in
cfortran.doc.

If you refer to cfortran.doc at /usr/share/doc/cfortran/cfortran.doc.gz
you can see that the license at the bottom of that file has been
patched in Debian to mention the LGPL:

Yeah, I do not recommend NM on servers (and the package description clearly
states this) or in static environments like a workstation in a lab, where you
might upgrade the system over ssh.

Well said. Honestly, there is no easy fix for this.
Either we restart network-manager, or we tell the user to reboot the system. But
for the latter, there is no infrastructure in Debian to do this in a structured way.

Hi Franklin,

yes, indeed.

These are indeed related bugs.

In message #10 of #474352, the maintainer notes that this bug should be fixed
now, or at least mitigated [ "minimize the downtime (with ethernet it's a
matter of seconds)"].

Depending on the ssh settings and the user's reaction to seeing the upgrade
hang, that may or may not work out OK. If it is a wireless connection,
however, the downtime can be much longer and my experience is that it is
likely to hang.

Possibly -- but would they use network manager in such a situation? (I don't
know). My feeling is that it would be fairly uncommon to upgrade over ssh for
machines that actually used network manager; the intersection of
upgrade-over-ssh and users of network manager (which is a desktop-centric
tool) would seem small.

As such, I had thought it was probably just a "document that you shouldn't do
this" situation rather than an RC bug in network-manager. In the same way
that upgrading over telnet or within a gdm session is not suppor

Two points:
- If you have setup a static ip, say for eth0, via /etc/network/interfaces, NM
should not manage eth0 and therefore not terminate the connection.
- If you use DHCP and NM is managing the interface, it should bring up the
device again, when it is successfully restarted.

Could you please send me the contents of /etc/network/interfaces.
Now that you have upgraded to lenny, what happens if you restart it via
/etc/init.d/network-manager?
The syslog would also be interesting:
grep NetworkManager /var/log/syslog

thanks

Current MissingH had AnyDBM split off into a separate package. Due to
lack of interest among the user community, I (as upstream for all three
relevant packages) have not yet migrated hdbc-missingh over. If I ever
do, it would be under a different package anyhow, so this one should be
removed.
