<pre>I used HarmonySEQ for quick automation. It is a powerful tool.

As for session managers, no, I did not. I did make a simple script to start
a session with everything I need, but
I am yet to try NSM. I did use Ladish in the past, right now I am not using
it, although I probably should set a
session manager up.
But in the case of this album lack of session management was not such a big
issue due to the nature of the music.
If you notice, it rarely has complex leads and melody lines, it is
basically all broken down into small music phrases.
That allowed me to stop working on a tune at any time and resume work later.

<pre>Actually, at the same time. I tend to have 23 consoles open plus the one
dedicated to the graphical desktop. Sounds like overkill, but there's
method to my madness, i.e. gui on tty1, mail on tty10, my work with the W3C on tty7,
etc., etc.
I typically have 1 or 2 ttys with root login for system level things.
Yes, I know sudo, but some commands actually won't work without a native
root login.

And, I have a user that builds rpms.

All of these need screen reader support, and that works just fine over
alsa, but no so well over pa--except that the Speech-Dispatcher, Espeak,
plus Orca combo actively supports pa.

So, my intent:

Card 0 for Speakup with TTSynth and whatever incidental sound
Card 1 is a digital out of 0, I don't use it.

Card 2 for Orca. This one gets pa

Card3 is my Sennheiser headset for SIP calls, preferably FreeSwitch, but
that's horribly latent at the moment.

Card4 is currently my HDSP Multiface. Needless to say, this one's for
jack--once I get it working!

Card5 is an old Chaintech PCI card </pre>

I would first look at the online docs available for PA about running it

all of my projects are developed on Linux; and I try to have them run

actual hardware in hands to make it work).

The sonobotanics installations however do run on Linux, as does VLIG.

too.

<pre>Hello, Kevin:

I'm responding because I'm pursuing a similar set of concerns in similar
circumstances. I am a Speakup and an Orca user (console and gui screen
readers). However, I have little recent jack experience as I'm just now
getting back into music-making on Linux.

I can tell you that it's possible to run both Speakup and Orca without
pulseaudio. Perhaps that might help? It might be worth a test, in any
case. More details on my setup, if you ask.

My current goal is to discover how to enable pulseaudio, but to restrict
it to a particular device only. I want to do this because the preferred
Orca environment is to run with pulseaudio--though, afaik, all one loses
without it are the earcons.

In any case, I certainly don't want pulseaudio to have access to all my
devices, just as I don't want jack running on the audio devices I use
for Speakup and for Orca (two separate devices, unfortunately, because
of driver compatibility issues).

In any case, this is a moderate priority project at the moment for me,</pre>

<pre>Hi all,

I release a new version of the AVW.lv2 plugins.
A very minor release:
- The LFO Frequency is now represented as a tempo and devider. I find
it much handier when working on a synth (without being connected to
any master tempo source)... And I don't have to calculate from tempo
to Hz when using it in a song :)
- A few stability fixes in the Beat Repeater and Slicer
- A added a small plugin to convert Ingen controls that goes from 0 to
1 to VC (that goes to -1 to 1)

As usual, you can download it from these places:
- https://github.com/blablack/avw.lv2

By the way, have you guys tried the latest version of Ingen (svn 5108)?
The stability is very good (I have to see it crash yet) and it's very
usable now - I have been using it for my new album and I'm starting to
get some pretty fat bass synths with a mix of avw.lv2, guitarix.lv2
and a few ladspa using NASPRO.
The bass synth in this song was done with Ingen:
