I agree.

Now the question is : where to put it / what size to give it ...
in order it does not hide usefull things ?

May be better with some transparency ?

And then, make it an option for the "shooter" ... if time.

Cheers,

Jean-Philippe.

Maybe it would be a good idea to put this in to the Wiki as a

There seems to also be an issue with some of the tracks not displaying
properly either?

A good example is the E-Speedway which I think came over from Torcs. It
doesn't display properly in some of the turns with the soil/grass
showing as though the road leads into the side wall. After driving
through that however, it's all normal again till the next set of turns
where there's a strange streak in the middle of the screen......

I'm also not getting very good FPS?? On a previous SVN build a while ago
I could get round 12-15 FPS on the Forza track with a full field of MPA1
cars however, now I'm down to 5FPS at times on the same track or using
the E-Speedway as another example down to 6-7FPS when usually I would be
around say ~20FPS previously.

My system is fine.... i7 &lt; at &gt;2.8GHz with Turbo mode enabled and 8GB RAM
though slightly weak maybe in GFX region using Intel built in GPU....

Not sure what the issue is??

Maybe I can turn down some options which help a little? I have tried
messing around wit</pre>

The library is required for the GL_S3_s3tc extension to be functional.

<pre>This may be a bit of a 'hot potato' but as we're making it easier for end
users to generate videos of driving sessions (and presumably upload to

small SpeedDreams logo on them?

I would suggest that this only occur during the replay process, as not to
distract when actually racing).

And thank you for following up with a way to fix the problem.... so often
people go quiet and we don't know that they're happy.

Err... I put that option in when doing the 'Span Splits' stuff but I'm on
3x 4:3 displays so can't really test the 16:9 view.

I think there is more work required to ensure aspect ratio are correct
(note that the boards - aka speedo - and the actual scene are generated by
different pieces of code so they might do different stuff).

If someone wants to fix the scene aspect, look at the end of 'grcam.cpp'
just before it sets up the various cameras. Make sure your monitor is
zooming/stretching correctly.

https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/browser/trunk/src/modules/graphic/ssggraph/grcam.cpp#L1894

Compile it with the debug going to the console and then use bash re-direction

$ speed-dreams-2.0 &gt; log.txt 2&gt;&amp;1

<pre>Hi Kaya,

My wife has an X120e (but that's AMD GFX rather then Intel) and I
occasional steal it to run SD on it without problems. I have a Dell E5410
which has Intel GMA HD GFX and that seems OK, but running Windows on that.

Did you try turning off all the OpenGL "Fancy" settings within the SD
options menu, does it work better/worse if you switch between
fullscreen/windowed operation?

If you can attach a debug log it might highlight something. Might also be
an idea to run a 'glxinfo' and attach your 'X11.log'

If you're adventurous, since you have source on disk you could try running
a bootable Ubuntu CD and then 'apt-get'ing enough build packages to
rebuild the SVN source that you already have on disk... this will at least
run out the 'Fedora' factor.

If I get time tonight I'll try this with my DELL.
Simon.

I'm running Archlinux 64bit and for some reason am struggling to display
the graphics in SD2.

The issue starts in game when I try to race; I selected 'Practice' to
test out my setup but all I get is blue with black shapes displayed.

The machine is a Lenovo X220 notebook with Intel GPU. I know for sure
that SD2 works on it as I used to run it on Fedora 16 from SVN.

The issue doesn't seem restricted to SVN though as the distro's own
version does the same thing and doesn't display properly either....

Has anyone encountered this before or have a fix for it?

I can post a screenshot if necessary.

I built the SVN version using CCMAKE and am pretty sure I got all the
pre-req's installed since configuring didn't give me any errors.

Kaya

Wolf-Dieter, all,

I agree. 1 more candidate for the "removal".

About "removing", I was more precisely planning a move to the "legacy" branch of our SVN source tree.

And thus, I'd add the bt, K1999 and hymie robots to the list (if you don't mind, Mart).

I believe that all this contents is probably useless for most of SD fans (dev. team included),
but in any case, we could add a line in the INSTALL.txt instructions to list
this unmaintained contents and a little howto explaining how to resurrect it
in a "living" source tree (for the adventurous who'd need / will to).

Cheers,

Jean-Philippe.

<pre>Hi, everyone.

It's more than 7 months now that the replacements for txml (= Expat) and SOLID-2.0 (FreeSolid 2)
have been plugged in our build system, and so made available for testing.

I've personnally systematically used them under Windows XP 32, 7 64 and Linux 64 since then,
without any issue.

So, as expected after the 2 (now fixed) relevant tickets have been fixed,
it's time to check if we can definitely remove this bundled code from SD source tree
(as well as the relevant CMake options : OPTION_3RDPARTY_EXPAT, OPTION_3RDPARTY_SOLID) :
* txml : http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/634
* SOLID-2.0 : http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed-dreams/ticket/712

Under Windows, there's no remaining issue, as we now ship Expat 2 and FreeSolid 2
in our 3rd bparty binary packages.

As for Linux,
* about Expat 2, no issue : it's a maintained package for any decent Linux distro,
* about Free SOLID, not a big deal, but I (unfortunately) expect some discussions
as it's a quite frozen pr</pre>

<pre>Hi Tobias,

for the moment there is no Android version.
I don't sure that a team's member knows well enough the Android SDK a member knows well enough to port SD above.

And I don't sure that the little config tablet hardware was able to run SD.

Cheers
Xavier
