New issue 199 by daipeng1...-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w&lt; at &gt;public.gmane.org: how to use yasnippets in sql-mysql
mode
http://code.google.com/p/yasnippet/issues/detail?id=199

I use emacs24 and ubuntu12.10 as my develop envrionment.
I use yasnippets for python and something else.
recently, I was look into the emacs sql-shell mode, which start by m-x
sql-mysql.
but I found the sql-mode snippets can't be use there.
I type M-x yas-descript-tables, the result output nothing.
then I come the snippets directory.
I build a new directory named SQLi[mysql]-mode which is the name of
sql-mysql's marjor-mode,
and put a test snippets file in it.
then M-x yas-reload-all and M-x yas-descript-tables;
there still nothing.
so I use C-u M-x yas-descript-table. I found the SQLi[mysql]-mode is there,
and the snippets I defined is also. But I can use it.

I think the question is becasue the sql-mysql's model-name, but don't know
what can I do.So help me, please.

It works with both, I should have thought about it. I should also have
realised that \left$1$0\right$1 would not work: it inserts two opening
parenthesis... So I defined 3 snippets, one for (, for [ and {. That's
easy enough.

I'll have a look, thanks.

<pre>At least in autopair, if you press "C-q (", it will insert a literal
"(" without autoclosing. I don't know about paredit. You can also use
a primary field transformation to allow you to choose the string to
insert (and thus choose only between the parenthesis you're interested
in). To do this look at the (quite outdated, but should work)
documentation.

Other that that, disabling a minor mode while a snippet is active
(notice that this is different from snippet expansion time), can only
be done, but not very cleanly, with `yas-exit-snippet-hook`, which to
make matters worse, is not snippet specific, so you would have to set
a variable in the snippet's body and restore it in the snippet hook.
One can't use normal lispy methods of wrapping a command call in a
dynamic environment because typing into a snippet is done in multiple
commands.

<pre>I'm trying to define a snippet to insert \left( \right) structures in
LaTeX. I'd like it to be able to choose between parentheses, brackets,
square brackets with something like:

--8&lt;---------------cut here---------------start-------------&gt;8---
\left$1$0\right$1
--8&lt;---------------cut here---------------end---------------&gt;8---

The thing is that I'm also using paredit and/or autopair modes in all
LaTeX buffers and if I type "(" during the snippet expansion, the
matching ")" is also inserted.

I've tried to temporarily disable paredit/autopair from within the
snippet template with no success so far. Any idea how I should go about
setting this up ?

When I write the following snippet, as I want to run some buffer clean-up

It didn't run the `do-some-cleanup' function.
It works when I execute (setq yas-after-exit-snipped-hook 'do-some-cleanup)

Is there any way to run arbitary elisp code in editing buffer

Problem encountered when using auto-complete

<pre>Transfer from yasnippet-bundle to yasnippet because the latter is easier to
expand. But with yasnippet, one could not use "TAB" to complete the words
provided by ac-dict (from auto-complete, also a fancy tool of which I fond
a lot) while with yasnippet-bundle everything's OK. It's very embarrassing
only to use "RET"(enter) to keep auto-complete working. Therefore, I wonder
that out there might be somewhere a bug or something. The version of
yasnippet I'm using is the lastest, I mean the very up-to-date. The version
yasnippet-bundle is yasnippet-bundle-0.6.1c, which's also the lastest, it
seems there's no more new bundle version.

Thanks in advance for any possible help.

Actually, I'm surprised this would work at all.

* the snippet is set to fire if you type "direct-binding" based on the
way binding is set -- which means all those self-inserting symbols
would be masked where the snippet is active.

* expand-env should fail when the snippet is fired as the sexp will
 fail in emacs.

* type is probably wrong there as well, but it's a new feature and I
 haven't played with it.

So I have this snippet:

# binding: direct-keybinding
# expand-env: ((some-var some-value))
# type: command

\\\\

\\vspace{10pt}

but when I type para&lt;TAB&gt; all that happens is that the text para is
removed. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

<pre>I don't know how that would help, but there is already such a way, use
".yas-setup.el"!

Another item to add to the 0.8 changelog, btw...

<pre>Issue is here. https://github.com/capitaomorte/yasnippet/issues/270

Maybe just providing a way to put elisp helper code into snippet libraries
