    <description>Joanna,

WebFeat was recently purchased by ProQuest and plans are to merge WebFeat with Serials Solutions' 360 Search http://www.proquest.com/pressroom/pressrelease/08/20080214.shtml. Some of the issues regrading support are probably due to this merger. I would try contacting someone at ProQuest about your tech support problems.

Hello:

We currently use Webfeat as our federated system for our databases.
However, we have been having many issues with their tech support and
response time; it has been taking 2 to 4 weeks for a database link to be
fixed, etc. I am wondering if anyone has similar issues as well as *ideas
on other federated searching systems that we can potentially use in place of
Webfeat.*

Thanks,
Joanna

Subject: [Web4lib] sitepal?

The reference librarians at my library are interested in this tool

http://www.sitepal.com/

for our site.

Has anyone considered this as a method for marketing library
resources/services and personalizing the user experience on the library
site? This is the first I've heard of it and was wondering if anyone
else had some thoughts.

Thanks!

I'm looking over some of the options for putting closed captions on

I see there's "MAGpie" and also Overstream.net. I'm just starting to

disadvantages are -- or even whether there are better alternatives.

If you have any experience in this, please drop me a line. All opinions

    <description>Hi Dave,
This morning I stumbled across this http://www.jingproject.com/
It is only experimental, but it allows you to create screen captures that
are automatically saved on screencast.com (for free) and you are provided
with an embeddable URL.
The playback is actual size - which may, in some cases be too large!

It might be an option for you.

You could just head straight to screencast.com, but fees are charged.

Foxfire material which introduces Aunt Arie and her contemporaries and

The books were compendiums of magazine articles.

    <title>Re: Picasa?(Andersen, Patricia M. (SDSM&amp;T))</title>
    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.education.web4lib/12101</link>
    <description>Hi Patty,

I use Picasa for work and for home. Some of the advantages are the
ability for users to download entire albums. Last time I looked Flickr
required you to save each photo individually.

The other big way I use it is to make smaller derivative jpg versions of
the tiff master images we make in our archive. The Export function is
good for quickly making jpg versions in various resolutions, we use
these for our online digital collection through ContentDM.

The disadvantage is that people cant download entire albums and perform
other functions unless they have a gmail account. If people don't want
to register for this service, that's a problem.

Hope this helps, Nat.

<title>Free video hosting for screen captures?</title>
    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.education.web4lib/12100</link>
    <description>Hi all,

I have some short videos of screen captures that I'd like to include on my website. I would like for them to be embedded and flash-based, and preferably not hosted by me! :-)

YouTube, of course, provides this. But the player is too small and the quality of the flash video is insufficient for my needs.

Can anyone recommend alternatives that provide larger viewing areas and higher quality? Thanks!
