There are a few references to it in the secondary literature, but searches in the usual places (OCLC, BnF, Gallica) have failed to turn up any copies. Any leads would be appreciated.

Dear friends,

I am very sorry to report that Martha Jenks, whom some of you may remember as the former Bibliographer for Islamic Law at Harvard, passed away this week.

Martha had been a professor of Classics, but decided that teaching wasn't for her. She came to the University of Texas at Austin to study for a second career as an academic librarian, studying Arabic and Persian (in addition to the five other languages she knew already from studying Classics). She completed her joint M.A. in Middle East Studies and library science at UT Austin, and worked for me as a student cataloging assistant early in my time there as the Middle East Studies Librarian. After graduation Martha accepted the position of Bibliographer for Islamic Law at Harvard. A little later, she accepted a job in the U.S. government.

A few years ago she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After surgery she left her job and moved back to California to be with her family. She passed away this week from complications related to the tumor.

Hello Anna,

I didn’t find a record in OCLC for this. Below is some basic bibliographic information you could use for a brief record.

title: al-Amthāl al-shaʻbīyah

author (NAF form): Jarjūr, Tawfīq

edition (RDA format): al-Ṭabʻah al-ūlá.

date: 2005

I don’t see a place of publication. It says all rights are reserved to the author, which we generally take to mean that the author is the publisher.

A researcher has been trying to locate, without success so far, microfilm, digitized or hard copy of two Arabic newspapers published in Palestine, in the period 1912-1914:
al-Munadi (Jerusalem)
al-Karmil (Haifa)

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Outreach: Engaging our Communities
2013 Middle East Librarians Association (MELA) Annual Meeting, Oct. 8, 2013, New Orleans, LA.

The academic communities and broader publics that we serve are more than ever in need of the reliable information sources and culture spaces that our libraries can offer.
This year's MELA conference theme will be Outreach: Engaging our Communities. The changing dynamics of libraries encourages us to alter, transform, promote, synthesize and engage our communities in new and innovative ways. The conference will focus on various aspects of outreach, emphasising practical strategies and methods for serving our communities.
MELA seeks paper proposals for presentations that discuss new and unique ways in which you engage your community. Paper topics may include but are not limited to:

 * instruction/information literacy
 * web-guides and making use of the plethora of available digital resources including di
