Robert, can you do a Program Verify from your source. I just wonder if the
&lt;Install location for shared
plugins&gt;/plugins/com.ibm.etools.iseries.edit_8.5.1.v20121024_2311/os
directory has been messed with somehow.
What is going wrong there is that RSE Extensions is building a menu and it
is asking if CODE is installed (maybe it wants to launch the old editors)
and that is calling out from Java to C to look that up in the Windows
Registry and the DLL with that routine is missing.

As others have mentioned,
We have fixed a number of PMRs about the second issue.
The first issue might be one of Library List configuration.
Note that you can always go back to the previous static outline by using
Preferences-&gt;Remote Systems-&gt;Remote Systems Editor-&gt;IBM i Parsers-&gt;ILE RPG
and unchecking "Update the Outline view when text is changed in the editor"
(There is a handy menu in the outline view to get this preference page, if
you click on the downward pointing arrow)
If it works in the static outline and not in the dynamic outline, then you
can open a PMR, it must be something unique with your host config, so we
will likely need a SAVF.

Hello Xuan and Edmund,

I've checked with all the developers and our latest version is 8.5.0, so I fear I misled you. I will advise the developers and see if an upgrade resolves the issue.

Thanks very much to you both for your advice.

<pre>Mark,

I have 8.5.1 installed on my PC and I have not experienced the first issue
you describe. I see the "twisty" next to all fields in the outline that
are referenced by the program, and when clicked on I get a list of line
numbers where they are referenced and/or modified (M). If the files are
not in your library list, and/or maybe cached, I seem to remember an issue
that the fields are not displayed correctly in the outline.

The 2nd issue you state is there and I believe is a known issue with a fix
coming.

A plus sign next to a field used to indicate that it had some line numbers under it, now I see nothing in the files branch which is a major performance issue for me when determining impact of a change. Even in the Fields branch the little carrot doe not always appear, and even when it does, there is no telling whether it is accurate unless you open it up and look.

2) the outline view does not seem to understand the like keyword on a D spec. Both fields defined LIKE another field in a very small program show Unknown(0) as the field type.

<pre> Sorry to take so long getting back on this.

&lt; at &gt;Mike, if I can open both members in edit mode does this rule out the
 issue you were describing?

This afternoon I closed RDP after collapsing all my connections.
I then renamed the \metadata\.log file.
I opened rdp and checked the new log file. There were no errors.
I expanded my production connection to the member I wished to compare.
There were no errors in the log file.
I then tried to do a compare using RSE Extensions. The following entries
 were in the log file.
 !ENTRY org.eclipse.rse.ui 4 0 2013-05-22 16:12:24.407

<pre>Thanks for that Gary. I did find and delete several of the Temp Files.
Which begs the question: why are those still there? I had several temp
files from sources that I hadn't worked on for quite some time.

Anyway, removing the temp file did not solve the problem. Still getting
the error, so I resorted to SEU to complete my changes. Now I'm getting
the same error on a new program. The project I'm working on is an
upgrade of JD Edwards, and I'm reapplying our modifications to the new
source. These two programs that have caused these errors have been
converted to RPGIV by JDE in the new version. So my guess is that RDP
doesn't like something that they've done to the source.

For now, I will just resort to SEU when I run into this error.

Thanks for the help
Bob

Jeremy,
We obviously want this problem fixed. And opening a PMR will be the
fastest way. But before you go through the trouble, could you confirm that
your other developer is on 8.5.1 and not just 8.5.0? I have seen you
mention both versions, and we only put the debugger fix into 8.5.1 no base
8.5. If you are only at 8.5.0 then upgrading to 8.5.1 should solve the
problem.

I am currently on 8.0.3

When I have similar problems, it has been caused by a line or lines of code
the editor does not "like".

If your source compiles with no errors, you might try deleting the
RDP copy of the program source. This should force RDP to load
a fresh copy of source from your host.

When I want to delete RDP's local source file, I do the following:
On the Remote Systems tab, expand "Local" (look just under "New Connection")
Next, expand "Local Files"
Next, look at "Drives" to find the drive letter where your RDP workspace exists.
For example, my workspace is "C:\GaryT\Rational_8_0"
Once you have located your Rational workspace folder, I think you want
to open RemoteSystesTempFiles and then open the folder that matches
the name of your host connection. For me it is the network IP address
of our iSeries.

Once you get this far, I think you want to open folder QSYS.LIB

So, for my setup, the path to local RDP source files is:

C:\GaryT\Rational_8_0\QSYS.LIB\SOURCELIB</pre>

<pre>I have been using RDP 8.5.1 on v7r1 without any issues for months. I am
a light user as I don't do a lot of heavy intensive coding. Yesterday I
opened up the outline on an RPGLE source, and the program immediately
became unstable, to the point of eventually crashing. Now I get the
following message every time I attempt to make a change to the source:

An internal error occurred during: "RPG ParserScheduler for
P4205.RPGLE".

com/ibm/etools/iseries/rpgle/RpgleFactory.createStatement()Lcom/ibm/etoo
ls/iseries/rpgle/Statement;

I have attempted to relaunch the workbench with the -clean option, but I
am still getting the error.

I attempted to search the archives, but they appear to be unavailable at
the moment.

Anyone have any insight on this error?

TIA,

Hello Xuan,

We already have these PTFs and the problem exists for developers using RDP Version 8.5.1 (as well as 8.0.3).

Can you suggest a course of action for me? My feeling is that it is not really an enhancement we want, we have lost functionality by adopting IASPs.

I appreciate your help thus far.

Hi Jeremy,

This is the PTF list:

5761SS1 SI47479
5770SS1 SI47805

But you also need to update to RDp 8.5.1 for it to work.
